(LONG) I need tons of help deciding between rh's

Happy Friday Ladies,
As many of you know I visited plenty of rh locatations within the past 2 weeks. I have spoken about them because not only did I not get that warm and toasty feeling but I alot of the BM's were so condescending and rude! Of course you can FM if you want the details.

FH and I are on a rather tight tight budget However we have created a savings plan where we have overestimated many expenses so the numbers have a lot of padding, as you may recall we have cut out a lot of things that we do not deem as necessary.

Here is the issue.
One place is giving us a fabulous price for to just guarantee 100 but the facility is alright. Another place, although there were parties going on in the rooms and we were not able to see it was amazing, my fh the menu as well as the treats (if you know what I am saying) Their price is about 15 more pp than the other place. They are both within budget but we would save a couple of thousand if we went with the first RH.

Here is another thing.
When we go to RH's we tell them that we are on a budget and we are willing to book in YOUR off-season, also we do not want an open bar.

Based on your opinions for an off-season, Sunday afternoon, with no open bar at a place that sure as heck ain't Oheka, what would you think that the quote should be? if someone says that they don't want liquor at the reception how much pp should you expect them to deduct?

I know this is a long post and I thank you at least for reading it but if you can comment at all it would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch ladies!

I don't know how much you are willing to spend but the Riviera will give you a great price for a day wedding off season with a full open bar. Just a thought.

You might be better off renting a place out and having it catered- it would probably be a lot cheaper. Otherwise, I think I have seen that Knights of Columbus in Oceanside is around $50-$60 per person. Also, try the all-inclusive halls like Marconi Manor and there are a bunch of others that are like $10,000 for about 100 guests

eta- all inclusive is the dj, flowers, invites plus the cocktail hour, dinner & cake

I agree. I found something with in our budget as well. But you can definitely find a place for $10,000 for 100 people. Definitely. We just had to guarantee 80 people.

There are quite a few all inclusive places - in addition to Marconi Manor there's also Mediteranean Manor in Patchouge and I think the Brentwood Country Club is another.

I myself rented out a hall and got a caterer. The caterer worked out to be about 50 bucks per person and the hall was 640.00 plus 17.50 per person for open bar (or you could do just beer wine and soda or a bar tab).

What about a hotel banquet room? There are some nice hotels on LI and they're usually reasonably priced. They don't include full bar.

I spent $57 a head for a saturday afternoon in February and we had open bar, cocktail hour and exnted our reception by an hour, so we were there for a total of 6 hours, nto five.

Check out Stewart Manor country club... they were fantastic and AFFORDABLE!!!!! I have info. in my review.

Depending on how many people you're expecting, you may want to consider a restaurant.

I would check out Westbury Manor, for a sunday off-season wedding they should be able to give you a great price and its beautiful all year round.

I would check out Miller Place Inn...one of my friends is getting married there and it is affordable and she loves it!!!!
If the choice is def. between the 2 Rhs you mentioned, I would find out if you can taste the food at both. Then go with the one that has the better food. If the food is good at both, go with the second one...because you want the nicest RH that you can afford. There are many other ways you can cut corners to save $$.
This is JMO....HTH!! Good luck!!!!!

I believe that open bar ranges from $17 to $25 per person at catering halls. So whatever would be the price of that hall on an off-season minus like $17 should be a fair rate.

I've heard $55 off season with alcohol...I think 40 would be appropriate for a nice place on a Sunday afternoon.

hmmmm,

I can say that for an off peak weekend, I was gettting quotes from 57-100 per person for a sunday, but all of them had an open bar. I don't know which halls will allow for that to be optional, you may want to look into having it catered, or places that allow off site caterers

Thank you all for your advice and recommendations! I really am not a fan of alcohol at gatherings, I just cannot stand people getting completely drunk on a joyous occasion. I say this because I am west-Indian and not to generalize or offend anyone but we can drink ALOT! I feel as though having a bar tab is a significant portion of an RH's total price and to reduce the price by five dollars when I don't want a bar, does not make any sense. I agree with thelastresort in accordance with the pricing.

Thank you ladies so much I truly appreciate it, have a great weekend!
