Hi Everyone. My name's Liz and I am getting married at Land's End on October 11th 2009. My Fiance and I went to a Dalsymer Florist in Cedarhurst and were working with their wedding person Sharon. She works for herself and owns Designer Florals. We want to have a Tulle or Shaffon with lights to make a tent like feel drapped in the ballroom and we have approximately 15 centerpieces. In addition 6 bouquets 5 boutineers and 2 baskets of petals for flower girls. We were quoted at $8,500.00 for all of this. I was wondering if anyone had done this look and knew if this was pricey and also if anyone could recommend Long Island Florists who could make this look happen. Everyone is telling me it's too much money and I am not looking to spend that.

Re: Long Island Bride Needs Help With Florist
I don't know if it's too much. It may be a little off, but it sounds like it could be correct.
I am going with somenoe that my sister knows, so she isn't really a 'popular/well known' florist. I can give you her number and you can call and ask her if you would like. Maybe she can give you a quick quote over the phone, I also don't know if she does the lighting and the drapery though. FM me if you want the info.

If I am not mistaken Flower Michele does that. You should try and give them a call and ask for John.

I'm dealing with John at Flowers Michele and he's great. Really honest and open. Plays within your budget. I am sure if you tell him the quote you got with the other florist he will work something out or tell you outright you are getting ripped off. And yes he does decor aside from flowers. He's doing my lighting but I know for a fact he does draping. You should just check him out even if its just to confirm the price you got quoted is fair/reasonable.

Have you met with Heidi at Sugar Magnolias? She is a Lands End vendor and her work is amazing. It's def worth calling her and getting a quote

Ditto checking out John of Flower Michele. Our job was simpler--only centerpieces, bouquets, and corsages--but I agree he has a very straightforward manner.

Why don't you use Keith from Lovin Oven Forals? He's the house florist for Lands End/Flowerfields and right across the street from Lands End. He is great. And the price was great too!

I met with them the other day. They seemed very expensive. We ended up booking with Flowers by Burton, which offered us just about the same exact thing for about $2,000 less than Lovin Oven quoted us at.

I had the best experience with Stefans. I highly recommend them. Definitely negotiate the price they give you -- they came down a bit for us. If you were quoted 8k, say you can't afford to go over 7k, they will give you close to that. That's what we did, but spent a lot less than you -- we didn't have any drapings.
