Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
The more that I look at catering halls the more I do not like them lol. My fiance and I are very layer back and I feel like the catering hall atmosphere may not be best for us. So I started looking everywhere! Farms, barns, Vinyards all over Long Island and I think this is the way I want to go. It better reflects both my fiance and my personality. Now is where I need a little help, does anyone have any recommendations?! Unlike catering halls farms and Vinyards do not have as many reviews and information in regards to wedding prices and whatnot. Any suggestions or input is greatly appreciated!! :)

I'm not sure about the pricing but Martha Clara Vineyards has a big room I believe for weddings, and in December I went to Macari Vineyards and they do weddings as well and it was beautiful! When I saw that vineyard I said if I was going to have a vineyard wedding this would be it.

At most vineyards , you'll have to bring in your own catering, sometimes tables, chairs, linens, tent if it's outdoors, everything.. So from what I've heard, it gets very expensive. There's also Vineyard Caterers out east, and from what I've seen, it's gorgeous vineyard venue, but ballroom for reception. If you want to do want to do a vineyard/barn wedding not at VC, Definitely call around and get prices for the venue and find out what they provide for the price. Then check out caterers, etc. having a wedding where there are a million balls in the air, I'd definitely say contact a wedding planner or at least day-of coordinator. There's just so many different moving parts, you'll go bananas lol

This! I wanted a barn wedding so bad but its extremely expensive and 100x's more stressful since your responsible for everything

We are getting married at The Vineyards in Aquebogue and it's a vineyard but you don't have to bring in all your own stuff! It's a private vineysrd(not open to the public) open air cocktail hour(the sides come down, and then a regular ballroom for the reception. We felt like it was the perfect balance because it must be so stressful coordinating everything. Let me know if you have any questions, my quote is for May 2016

I just called the Vineyards and she quoted me 130pp including taxes and fees for 125 adult minimum. They said they would be able to work on the price the more adults I provided. Looking at the pictures it looks beautiful and I live that you get the vineyard, rustic feeling, without the stress of having the take care of everything! Thank you for the request!!

I wanted the exact same thing as you but, as other ladies have stated it was just too expensive to do, let alone do by yourself. All of the vineyards/barns out east have a site fee that fluctuates with the season. Everything needs to be brought in, some of the barns don't have bathrooms so that means porter potties. I don't know about you, but I was not willing to use a porter potty in my wedding dress let alone make some of my guests lol.If your heart is set on it, I'd suggest Raphael Winery, Martha Clara, Jediah Hawkins Inn, Breckonrock Hall, the George Weir Barn (in Llyod Harbor), Hallockville Museum. I wish I had kept my quotes for some of these places, but I remember Raphael being the most expensive. Here's a good list of Northfork venues:
http://www.northforkweddings.com/vendors/reception/venues/
We ended up going with a mansion style wedding, still unique and our venue does not feel like a catering hall at all, so if the barn/vineyard doesn't work out I'd say to consider some of the Lessing venues: Three Village Inn, Smithtown Landing, Bourne Mansion, and my venue Mansion at West Sayville.
I feel like I wrote a novel, but I hope it helps lol.

Try the queen county farm museum for a barn wedding or Raphaels vineyard, I went to a wedding at Raphaels and it was amazing! The food was incredible!

i am having an outdoor tented wedding at the LI Maritime Museum in west sayville. i also hated every venue i visited!! it is definitely more work but i think it will be worth it because it'll be our style and unique :) Also it can definitely be more expensive so just be prepared for that! all of the suggestions above are correct plus the LI Maritime Museum. How many people do you plan to invite?

Ok so not big enough: George Weir, Hallockville, Queens County Farm Barn and Pavilion (their orchard or lawn would fit you but that's just a tented wedding and for me, at that point i preferred a tented wedding on on LI).Also not mentioned above, Peconic Bay Herb Farm, and a hydrangea farm out east (forget the name)
What are you looking for and what's your budget? What time of year? I just went through this all and can maybe steer you in the right direction.

Re: Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
I have widened my search from just October to September and October of 2016. We are looking to get married on a Friday evening to hopefully cut the cost down a little bit. My budget is 15,000, but realistically I would like to simply keep it under 20,000. My parents seem to be looking at places much more expensive, such as Raphael's Winery, which is beautiful, but very expensive. My fiance and I are very layed back and easy going so we want something that reflects that side of us. My fiance is also very much in love with the water, he works on a fishing boat so I have been looking at some of the waterfront catering halls as well. At this point I do not really care if it is in Suffolk or Nassau. The one thing that my father will not budge on is food!! He is a manager at a gourmet food distributing company, and his coworkers, and the company CEO is attending the wedding, so the food has to be fantastic!

ahh ok got it! from your other posts about raphael's i thought you had a much bigger budget lol. what you may want to do is look for sites and bring in your own caterer. i found the vineyards to be pricier in general. here's a list of caterers and numbers i used when i was looking… elegant eating 631-360-2211elegant affairs 516-676-8500

go for a cheap cheap site fee and spend your money on the food. my family is italian and good food is something my mom felt really strongly about! After going through all of the trouble of calling a million off site caterers we ended up going with a restaurant we love who is catering everything and also handling the rentals. So maybe you could start the other way, and go to restaurants you love and see if they cater off site, and then use the list above?
also, to be totally blunt a diy type wedding is going to cost you more than your typical venue. you're going for different and you pay for that! if i could go back, i would have cut down my bridesmaids to just my 2 sisters as maid/matron and my bro as man of honor. your bridal party really adds up between gifts and transportation and flowers. It seems like it doesn't relate to the type of wedding, but i made a few decisions before i truly understood the costs of the wedding that ended up locking me into something that is eating away at our budget.

Re: Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
I have not picked any of my bridesmaids or really anything yet. I wanted to wait until after I book my venue, that was just kind of my plan from the beginning. Also, I am just forever nervous about weather. At a farm, barn, vineyard if it rains I am kind of screwed where a catering hall will have more options.

Have you look at The Riviera in Massapequa? I am biased because I'm getting married there, but my fiance and I had a lot of similar feelings as you. At first I wanted something rustic/barn like out east. After looking a lot, we realized this would not be feasible, due to both cost and weather back up plans. We also did not want a typical catering hall feel, and being on the water was extremely important to us. We fell in love with The Riviera. It's exposed brick on the inside, gorgeous hardwood floors, and directly on the water. The water is also private, so no random people can show up on their boat and crash the wedding!I think 200 people is probably the max that could fit in the room though. They say 260, but people would be smushed and shoved all the way in the back, and not be able to see anything.
If you have any questions, let me know!

Re: Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
I have contacted the Riviera and they quoted me 97 plus tax and fees, which I thought was a lot for a Friday at that location since I know people who have gotten married there and who are getting married there that payed much less. It is a very pretty location and it is on my list of places to go see. I am curious to see what they quote me in person.

That is interesting, we are paying much less. Granted, our wedding is on a Thursday evening. They did work with us, so try to haggle!

Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
I originally really wanted this sort of thing myself but I got overwhelmed with all the extra work we'd have to do to make it happen, and it did wind up seeming much more expensive. However I did get some good information about the Bailey House at Bailey Arboretum and the Queens County Farm Museum, which are both quite different sorts of spaces with tons of room to DIY and customize. I'd be happy to share the info I got if you're interested. (I especially loved Bailey and could absolutely have pictured my wedding there, but the cost and the work just scared me away, lol.)

Long Island Farm/Vinyard Venue Ideas?!
I have been in the same boat since i got engaged in November. I ALWAYS said I didn't want a typical, catering, Long Island wedding. I have seen myself quickly fall into the trap --the catering halls are basically the least work and the most affordable.I really liked Hallockville Farms, although it is extremely rustic. The guy, Herb that gave us a tour was a really nice person but even he didn't sugar coat it- it is a ton of work. Like everyone above said, you will need to rent everything from the silverware to the tables to the glasses.. hire bartenders, get the alcohol etc. etc. Not to mention for that place in particular you need to purchase your own insurance, remove all of the garbage by the next day AND keep in mind there is no A/C or heat, bathrooms are in a trailor and the barn only holds 99 people , which means you would need to get a tent. The outcome can be beautiful and unique but I just didn't picture myself hanging lights, moving tables and taking out garbage for the amount of money I was going to be spending.
I agree with the above posts- try the riviera. I really liked it but they don't have my date. I have also heard good things about Queens County Farm Museum and The Vineyard Caterers. Good luck -keep us posted!
