ok, so I now have tried 2 different kind of votives to see how long they burn for. the cheapo one's from AC Moore lasted all but 2 1/2 hours. I just got my candles today from njcandle.com and it doesn't look like it will last 2 1/2 hours, let alone the 10 HOURS they claim it will last
Since my theme is fall and the BM's will be in burgundy, I really want burgundy (but unscented) candles.
does anyone have suggestions for me? I would like them to last at least 4-5 hours.

Are you using votives or tealights? Votives should last longer than 2-3 hours. You could always try Yankee Candle or something, but that might get costly.

I'm using votives. I bought the one's I got today from njcandle.com specifically because they are supposed to last 10 hours. They even were selling 15 hour candles. I lit a candle at 6pm when I got home and it's already burned down quite a bit.
Yankee candles last a long long time, but they're all scented, right?

I had them for my placecards but also 10 at a table as part of my CP's. They were SMALL votives, smaller then normal size sold at the store, and they lit them at around 7:40 and they were still burning at 1:15 am...and none burned out.
Thats a weird experience your having.

Check with soon2bmsz. Her votive place cards burned the whole 5 hour wedding and I had to blow it out to take it home. They all looked so gorgeous on the tables

i had votives at the e-party, got them at michaels, they lasted all night, they were burgundy and unscented

I bought in bulk on line and they have candles that last 15 hours. Sometimes they refer to them as restaurant candles. Don't lose hope, they're are plenty out there, just make sure you buy the right ones that specify.

I bought a 50 pack of burgandy unscented candles from IKEA. I think they were something ridiculous cheap like $2. Maybe its worth a shot?

WOW! that is cheap! I love IKEA! I bought a bag of 50 tealights from there and they lasted me years! I think I paid $3 for the whole bag. lol
here's an update on my votives... I totally jumped the gun assuming they wouldn't last.
The votive burned for 4 hours last night and it's been going for another 1 & 1/2 so far this morning. So they will definitely work for me.
Sheeesh! talk about sweating the small stuff! I need to get a life!

I heart Ikea too!! I've had to hold myself back from shopping there to save up for the big day!

well, if you're looking for long lasting colored votives (other than white or ivory) and you want them to be unscented, I would recommend njcandle.com - even though they didn't send me an order confirmation or reply to my requests for a delivery status!
they arrived in a week and they were very inexpensive. And... so far they seem to be lasting at least 8 hours

I wouldn't recommend them if you need ivory. You can get ivory votives anywhere (cudge.net, eBay, Michaels, etc).
