Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
My FSIL is a vounteer there....and I have been to a few Introductions. I found it to be that way too. I already told my FH if I feel like it is getting weird I am leaving and I will pay FSIL back. She paid for me to go. I am not looking forward to it!!

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
Shamma, it's like you go these seminars and you pick a problem you are having in life, whether it is weight, job, money , self esteem, etc. And you focus on what you can do to overcome it. You do all sorts of written exercises (psychological). I went to an Introduction , which is like a sample and I thought it was weird but I signed up bc my FSIL kept bugging me to. And I was unemployed at the time so I figured what else do I have to do.Now Sassy scared me!
LOLI don't wanna go...but she already paid $400 for me.

I read an article a long, long time ago about this how it is almost cult like- the seminars are so long- why keep you all day that like? that's crazy...

WOW, $400 that is a lot of money for one course, I hope you get something positive out of it. Let us know when you come back how you found it.

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
My sister is HEAVILY involved with Landmark. Forum is the first class...there are more if you want to take them, like WISDOM COURSE. All these course cost $$ and they encourage you to take more courses which is what people think is 'cultish'. Me included. There was a whole article in New York magazine on it.I went to a 'family day' with my sister and it was 100% not for me. People standing up, sharing, stating what the Forum has brought otheir life. It teaches forgiveness and responsibility for your own life...all good things but their methods were personally, not my thing. Mys siter however has really found peace in many areas of her life and credits it to the forum.
Hope this helps.

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
See, some people might be looking for something so they grab on to anything, but some people might really just get self help out of it.

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
I didn't know people needed to learn how to take responsibility for their own lives... but I guess I just take it for granted...

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
Everyone LEARNS to take responsibility for their own lives. It is not an instinct that oyu are BORN with. Some people learn it better and faster than others. Some blame others instead of looking inward.....it all depends on the person.

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
My GF knew a guy who was super heavily involved with it and she felt tremendously pressured to go to the seminar and she hated it. You can't leave to pee, you can't be even one minute late or they don't let you in or something? To me it smacks of 'est' and cultism. Why the hard sell? Why make current members go out and recruit others so much? For more $$ that's why. I bet the guy that dreamed it up is making a kazillion dollars.

Re: Long shot...but anyone ever do the Landmark Forum?
a little update.....I went and actually enjoyed it at the end. First 2 days I hated it. But I actually learned a lot and how to deal with every day issues in a positive way. Looooong though. Friday, Sat, Sun 9am -12am!!! My butt hurt so bad!!! We had 30 in breaks every 3 hrs and one 90 min dinner break each nite. I am still tired....lol. I have to say many many people got ALOT out of it. I mean, I got something out if it but some people were really touched by it. People called their families they haven't spoke to in 20 years, etc.Just thought I would share
