That is so adorable! I love when Lucy sleeps like that...makes me want to just pick her up & cuddle her like a stuffed animal. She, on the other hand, does not agree.

SOOOOOOOO cute!!! I am such an animal lover! I even have the ASPCA license plates! If fi wasn't so dead set against it, I would have hundreds of pets!

I have TONS of pets!!!! (Kind of a hazard when FI is a vet...he takes all the unwatned ones!)We have one cat (he's a leukemia positive cat, when he was a kitten his owners wanted to put him to sleep because of the leukemia..FI fell in love with him, and 7 years later, he's still alive and well)
2 pugs,
1 African Grey parrot (he talks up a storm and is only 6 months old!)
8 Gouldian Finches (those birds are tiny! the size of my thumb, maybe a bit bigger)
1 Gloster Canary
1 Iguana who was burnt by his former owner, FI resuced him.
and we had 1 African Tortiose, but we found him a much better home in FLorida where it's always warm for him, and he has acres and acres of land to roam (I heard he's even involved in a breeded program..lucky kid!)
We are also def. animal lovers!

Kathy116 - how do you keep your leukemia positive cat from infecting others? My beautiful Mortimer James 'caught' leukemia (it's congtagious in cats as I'm sure you know being your FH is a vet) a few years ago. We didn't know but then Morty got a cold and it wouldn't go away. I took him to our vet, thinking he just had a cold, and it turns out he was in bad shape. He wasn't even going to get over the cold because his immune system was shot. He was pretty miserable, and as much as it pained me, I put him to sleep. I'd rather he not live a life like that.His brother, Red (see pic), was with us until this past November. He had what I thought was a cold also. After a few days of his not getting any better, I took him to the vet and found out he had a congenitive heart disease, and was in heart failure! I was CRUSHED! The vet said he could last 4-6 more months if we gave him meds every day and kept him inside. No life for my pumpkin. We decided to put him to sleep also. I held him in my arms as the lady did it. He was purring right up until the very end, just happy to be with his mommy.
I miss him so very much. I miss them all so very much. (BIG animal lover here - we always take in strays and the like.)

I'm so sorry for your loss.As for our cat...he's never been outside, and he's never met another cat...just him. THe only way it can spread is if cats have contact with eachother, say through saliva, or possibly urine (I'm not sure on that one, I have to ask FI), or blood.
So, people can keep the leuk pos. cats, as long as they are 'quarrantined'. However, 80% of them do die their first or second year...

Eileen: I'm so sorry for your loss, that is so sad
I know how it is to lose a pet. We had to put my dog, Benji to sleep last year and I was TOTALLY heartbroken. It's like losing a family member. Juet remember that now you have 2 little angels looking over you
