Looking at Reception Halls.

Looking at Reception Halls.

I am new to the forum and I am starting to look into booking our reception hall for a 2010 wedding. I have a few places that I'm interested in and would love for some feedback on these places.

Fox Hollow, Coral House, Westbury Manor, Swan Club, Majestic Gardens, Venetian Yacht Club, Villa Lombardis. Thanks for the help in advance.

I think it depends on what you are looking for they all have a different feel- especially Venetian that is totally different from the other places - I booked Ventian because I love the whole water thing - Wanted a very tropical like place - Having a Caribbean steel Drum at CH - And we are only having about 130 people so we will be in the room with the outdoor patio open for reception.

Just think it depends on the type of wedding you want to have..

I am biased bc i booked w/ Fox Hollow. I thought it was beautiful and gave me the most for my money. You even get more if you get married in the offseason. I also really liked Westbury Manor but the room i liked (Manor Room) required a guarantee of more than FH and I were willing to guarantee. Take your time in searching and good luck!

Venetian Yacht Club is beautiful.
When I first walked in I knew i wanted that place o matter what!!

Then once we sat down for prices they wanted a little more for my date...so we picked chateau...because we wanted it on the water

But that place is beautiful.

I've been there for weddings and they do an amazing job!

Also went to a wedding last June at Westbury Manor and the food was outrageous and the staff and place was great.

She had ceremony outside...and then a giant tent for cocktail hour with pretty much every station you couuld have.

It was great!

i'm definitely biased and i've said it all over these boards but the Swan Club was amazing to us from start to finish! our wedding day was perfect and much of that was due to the staff at the Swan Club. if you want to read my review you can do it here:

review including swan club

if you have any questions along the way, feel free to FM me. good luck and congrats!!

I got married at Majestic Gardens!! Loved it... we still haven't stopped getting compliments on the food. Price is decent and they have beautiful gardens for picture taking... no need to go elsewhere for photos. We had also looked at VYC and liked that a lot as well...

I am looking at many of the same places. Here is my advice- Look at all of them. We have two years so there is no reason not too. What other people like and dislike will be different from you and your FH. You really need too look for yourself. We are seeing a total of 17 halls-4 down and 13 to go.
We saw and disliked these from your list:
Coral House & Majestic Gardens. Coral house is in a bad location. The other wedding shared a tiny bathroom, you had to cross a busy RD to get inside & some other little things that might not matter to other people. The food was amazing however and they offer great prices.
Majestic Gardens jsut didn't do anything for us. The Garden is beautiful but if it rains-forget that. The outside front of the place is eh (if that matters to you) and there is a giant painting in the cocktail hour room and I thought it was tacky. Again these are my own personal and weird opinons.
Swan club is a maybe still. They gave us a great price and it's very nice.

Go and look at all of them. Get prices for many different times of the year. Compare the prices/menus/whats offered etc. Find out how many parties they have at a time. Try and arrange a food tasting for the ones you really like!

We booked with Majestic Gardens... They are having their Expo next Wed. 9-10... so call them and go to it ... We will be there also .... The place is so beautiful ... and even if it does rain ..there are so many places on the inside that you can take pics too .... we decided to go with the afternoon wedding since it was so much cheaper !!!!!!!! If you need any other info ... FM me .... Good Luck planning !!!!!!!!!

I agree with looking at all the places before making your decision or at least most of them. We looked at the Fox hollow first and we fell in love. After looking at a few other places we decided to stop. The fox hollow was the best price for what they were giving and gorgeous. we booked there. But the Westbury Manor is also nice, but I felt that if it rained we would be squished inside (the Manor used to be a true house so rooms and hallways are small).

They may have fixed it at this point, but when we were looking, VYC had a terrible musty/mold smell throughout the whole place- I couldn't get it out of my nose. And a lot of areas along the walls needed maintence. the view and floor in the main ballroom are gorgeous.

Villas has amazing food I go there at least twice a year for work functions.

I just had my wedding at Coral House and absolutely loved it. They did everything right. They were super nice. The food was terrific. I can go on and on. The price was wonderful for what we got compared to all the other halls.

You should also try Chateau La Mer. We're booked with them and LOVE it. I've heard nothing but good things both before and after we booked .
