Looking for a photographer in Manhattan, Queens?

Looking for a photographer in Manhattan, Queens?

I'm going through the process of looking for a photographer but having a difficult time because I live in Queens, work in Manhattan, and don't have a car to drive out to Long Island, where we are getting married. Does anyone know of great photographers in Manhattan, Queens, or Brooklyn that are not too expensive (below $5500)? I visited Wendy Stewart recently and liked her work, but have not heard too much about her. I also did a search on Christine Austin, but there was little info. I appreciate any feedback.

You guys are awesome - you have helped me so much with the other aspects of planning my wedding! Thank you!

Ariana Studios in Bayside Queens

They are not that expensive and I think they did a great job. I posted yesterday my proofs of the pictures that they took..if you are interested. They are on 2 separate post.

Edit for spelling

There has been so many phtographer questions today! I am using JoVon - they have two offices: Long Island and Manhattan. I booked them through the LI office, but yesterday had my engagement shoot done in Central Park and went to the Manhattan office. I have a photographer and photojournalist - you can definitely do it in your budget. jovon.com

Wow I am in the same boat..living in queens, work in manhattan and married in LI =)...Mark Kauffman has a studio in manhattan that he can meet you at to go over things and show you albums etc..Also I think the name is something in blue..they are a husband and wife team and they also live in the city and will meet you in a starbucks somewhere..
I am afraid that is all I know of personally......
best of luck!!

We used Ed Collins as our photographer for our July 4th wedding this past July. He did a wonderful job and has his studio in Manhattan.

For all info go to www.edcollinsphoto.com

Good luck!

I will of course plug my photographer first - Mark Kauffman who does have a midtown office location. He doesn't have all of his sample albums there but enough to give you a good idea. Can't recommend them enough.

I have a friend who used Joel Greenberg (of Joel and Wendy Stewart's studio) and really liked her photos. I don't have any experience with them but I just wanted to let you know they are highly respected and known in Manhattan from what I understand. Although I think they are a little on the high side in terms of price.

Another option is Wedding Group One. Ive heard everything from raves to boos about this place but their photos look great.

Try Jason Groupp, Something in Blue, Laurie Rhodes, Alfonso Pagano, Robert London, Joshua Zuckerman.... I believe all of these will give you negatives, some of these I liked but they were out of our price range, but are in yours!!! Of these, I liked laurie rhodes candid work and alphonso's style and ability to mix/match b/w posed/candid, I didn't look at robert or joshua in person due to price
but thought their website galleries were nice. Something in blue was booked for my date.

I would stay away from Colm McSean (aka Colm Johnston) ==> He may be charming and is capable of doing good work, but refused to meet with me a second time to show his proofs from a recent wedding... If you need more info on that, you can check theknot, there is a bunch of posts about him on the NYC board.

Re: Looking for a photographer in Manhattan, Queens?

Morreale Photo Studios, 163-28 99th Street
Howard Beach, NY 11414, (718) 843-7204
http://www.weddingonline.com/Morreale.htm

The owner's name is Joe - and he is wonderful - He will come to your home to meet with you. He used to own a studio, for quite a few years, that was located on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. But he travels a lot to shoot various weddings and functions, so he now works out of a studio in his home. He was referred to me by several different people, and I have seen him in action at a friends wedding. (I am using him at mine and he met with my sister and now she is using him as well.) He has fantastic prices. I am paying $3,200 and my package includes everything you could possibly think of (engagement shoot, placecards, black and whites, sepia etc..) He's really great to negotiate with. Good Luck!

Omigod!!! That would mean I actually have to clean my apartment! With all this wedding planning and stress going on, who has time to clean?! He sounds great, though. I will definitely give him a call. Thank You!

Here's another recommendation:

She's done some NWR pictures for me which were amazing and she has won numerous awards for her work. I'm considering using her for my wedding. She lives in Queens, so she can meet you whereever is convenient.
