Looking for a unique and rustic venue

Looking for a unique and rustic venue

After much discussion with my FH, we have decided that our theme for the wedding should be very unique, rustic and vintage. I would love a venue that is not really a catering hall/restauraunt such as a barn, but i am open to other ideas. So far, the only place I have come up with is the Queens County Farm Museum. I am looking for suggestions of other places on Long Island or upstate etc.. to hold the wedding. I feel as though I am running out of time because we are planning a summer 2011 wedding.

IMO Westbury Manor does not feel like a catering place.

I'm sure there aer plenty of other places but I am not familar with all the places on LI

the beautiful, high wooden ceilings in the Riviera make it feel very rustic. HTH!

If you dont want a catring hall look into the VIneyards out east. I lknow they have weddings at Martha Clara, Sparkling Pointe, and Raphael vineyards. Martha Clara has a really pretty barn.

I went with the Westbury Manor. It feels like home. Its a beautiful Victorian manor.

You may want to look at the Woodlands or the thatched cottage. If you are willing to pay more money, I've heard good things about Flowerfield.

I say westbury manor, which is very vintage, since that is my theme too and I would try riviera.

I thought I wanted a barn wedding at first, but then came to a realization that I would be renting everything seperately. It's more work and it can get pricey. You can definitely do it, it's just something to consider.

I agree, Rivieria is all dark wood and very nice. They have a fireplace in the room with light from the ceiling..

I would try the vinyard caterers out east. I'm getting married at Dowling. Don't waste your time looking there it's not at all rustic. Vintage yes, but not rustic.

Check out Phillipsburg Manor in Westchester.

You may also want to do some searches for historical societies in different areas. A lot of times they'll list their properties that they have museums at and a lot of them will allow events. Also, if you go this route you will need to book your own caterer and if you find one that you like and want to work with, they may have suggestions.

From what I remember, the Winter Garden Pavilion in Fox Hollow looked pretty rustic.
