Looking for a unique and rustic venue

Original post by yoginiinluv2011

After much discussion with my FH, we have decided that our theme for the wedding should be very unique, rustic and vintage. I would love a venue that is not really a catering hall/restauraunt such as a barn, but i am open to other ideas. So far, the only place I have come up with is the Queens County Farm Museum. I am looking for suggestions of other places on Long Island or upstate etc.. to hold the wedding. I feel as though I am running out of time because we are planning a summer 2011 wedding.

Check out Harvest on Hudson. They are not a catering facility, but a really great restaurant and they do weddings. They have the 'rustic' feel you are looking for! www.harvest2000.com

Raphael Vineyards is great (but has a HUGE site fee)

Martha Clara

What about some of the mansions?

One of former co-workers just went to a wedding outside New Haven, CT at a place called Lighthouse Point. You're right on the water by a lighthouse and there is a carousel on the grounds.

Also other places upstate : Glen Island Harbour Club and Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle.

If you are willing to travel, look at The WoodWinds in Branford, CT.

Old Field Club?

I second old friend club. amazing, rustic and just a different kind of place. if that bridal suite had a bathroom it'd still be on my list. I just couldn't imagine if I had to pee going out in the hallway where anyone can see me before the wedding ceremony lol.

Riviera (for obvious reasons)
Sans Souci - not a catering hall at all, kinda feels like an old mancion IMO
Marci Vineyard - was just there on a wine tour and the views are AMAZING!! they have all these sliding doors that go out onto this deck that oversees the vineyard, its stunning!!!!!!
