Looking for an RH, any suggestions?

Looking for an RH, any suggestions?

Hello all!

My fiance and I got engaged Aug 31 and this winter began looking at various places to hold our ceremony and reception (same location). We would really like to get married this coming fall (Sept/Oct). One stipulation I have is that I have to be able to get sunset pictures and pictures by the water. I know this kind of limits our choices, but he's for it. We would like to keep the budget $80 pp or less, ideally. Oh, and we only plan on having around 60-70 guests.

Here are a few we have visited so far:

Sans Souci:
Pros: 1 wedding at a time, beautiful room, seem to be very accomodating, affordable, includes centerpieces and cake, across from water, has a tiny beach across the road for pics
Cons: Very small outdoor area for ceremony and cocktail hour
**High on the list at this point**

Beach Club Estate:
Pros: Beautiful outdoor area
Cons: Fiance loved the cocktail room, I did not, too small and too rustic looking

Thatched Cottage:
Pros: Beautiful outdoor area, affordable for certain times, tons of food choices
Cons: Not one wedding at a time because we do not meet a minimum so we may not be able to get the outdoor area if another bride decides she wants it at the same time, smaller room (for our smaller wedding) is plain

Miller Beach Surf Club:
Pros: On the water and beautiful set-up (ceremony flows into cocktail hour area and flows into reception room), One wedding at a time, perfect for pictures and beach located on property, affordable, 1 wedding at a time
Cons: No friday nights on months we want, need to be driven to beach because hill is too steep to walk down and up (only bride, groom, and photographer)

So summed up, fiance loved the Beach Club Estate and Thatched Cottage, but he is flexible. I wasn't fond of them, I felt they were too 'fancy.' I have more of a casual taste, like the feeling I got when walking into Miller Beach Surf Club. Nice and small (like Sans Souci as well) and affordable. Sans Souci does offer centerpieces in their package and definitely are well versed in weddings as that is what they host all of the time there. The Surf Club is more of a Beach Club than a wedding hall. Nothing wrong with that being that the Surf Club is $10 less than Sans Souci.

So ladies, are there any other places out there in our price range not as 'fancy' as Thatched Cottage, more casual like the Surf Club???? I'm very indecisive and would like to see what else is out there before making a final decision!

Thanks so much!

The Sans Souci is very intimate and beautiful. If your looking for the anti wedding mill the Sans Souci is the answer. Amazing food, beautiful location with a waterview from large french windows in the dinning area!!!. Also cocktail hour overlooks long island sound. I must tell you we are very very picky when it comes to food, we did multiple tastings and found the food at the sans souci was far more superior than the others, sea bass was incredible.. and my fience is not a fan of fish ....he loved it.

Good Luck

We looked into the Riviera but they said that they now have a minimum of 100 guests. We won't be anywhere near that number! Thanks though!

I will definitely look into the others mentioned though!

Also, regarding Sans Souci, it's nice to hear good things about it! I haven't been able to find anyone who has been to an event there so I was a little hesitant! I think another visit is in store for it...

Oh, another question...

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON HAVING A THURSDAY NIGHT WEDDING???

dont know how far east you are considering, but check out Bellport Country Club. One wedding at a time. If is warm enough u can get married in the rose garden, and its on the Great south bay and has a beach to take photos at. I think for off peak months and fri/sun it should be in your budget.

the venetian yacht club is nice too, more than one wedding at a time tho, but great sunsets.

try calling Giorgios! They have amazing views for a sunset wedding .. and they are right next to the water and they provide a limo golf cart to get you there.

If you call tell them Kelly Lipareli referred you!!

Check out West Sayville Country Club. Beautiful grounds, and from what I hear they are very flexible to work with.

we looked at Harbor club with a guarantee for 60 people. for a small wedding they would put us upstairs and we were told if there was a wedding in the main room we would not necessarily have access to the gardens. so if you go there check if you could take pictures there - - if they said you would be upstairs.

Re: Looking for an RH, any suggestions?

Thank you so much for the replies! I will be looking into these! And thank you for the heads up about the Harbor Club! That is the same thing we were told about the Thatched Cottage, so it's a no on my list! My view is that we all pay money to have our weddings there. If they cannot stagger weddings so that each bride can get pictures outside or in a certain area, then they really don't want you.

Any others???

Well, I'm biased, but I love Crescent Beach Club. They normally have a higher minimum and price than what you're looking for, but I believe they become more flexible when people book on less notice. Also, if they have a cancellation for a date, I know that they are more willing to negotiate. So, you may just wind up being able to work something out.

Land's End has a smaller room where we had my uncle's surprise bday party there. It was very nice and we had access to the deck area.
