looking for hairstylist in nassau for sept. 13 '09
Hi, ladies,
I am looking for someone to do my hair on Sunday, Sept. 13, sometime in the morning. I am willing to go to a salon, but I live in Brooklyn, so I literally have no idea where to go. I will be at my parents' in Massapequa, but I will travel up to 30 minutes.
Here is what I am looking for: - I have a pretty natural, low-key style. I don't wear a lot of makeup and hairspray, and I really want my hairstyle to suit me on my wedding day. - I want a loose, natural-looking updo for my curly hair that shows off my natural curls in a gentle, pretty way. - I don't want a look that's stiff and has tons of hairspray. I understand that updos require hairspray to stay in place, however, I don't want my hair to look like it's hard and crunchy. - I don't want my hair blown out straight and then put up, or curled with a curling iron and then put up. - I don't want my curls to look crunchy with hair gel.
I've already had a trial with one stylist, and even though I showed him pictures of what I wanted, it still ended up looking too 50s style. The front was all blown out, and he actually burned my forehead with the curling iron. It didn't look awful, but it wasn't my style, and it wasn't what I asked for.
If any of you ladies (especially those with naturally curly hair) have suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it! If you can show me pics of your hair, that would be great, too.
Thank you!

I go to a girl named Katie who works out of a salon in Rockville Centre but does house calls and she does really great work! Let me know if you want me to FM you her information, you could do a trial or something in advance to see if you're a good fit. I don't have curly hair but I know she works with girls with all kinds of hair.

Stop looking right now and call NIcole D'Angio. I can't even begin to tell you the number of compliments I got on my hair- it was insane. She doesn't do regular 'bridey' hair- it looks so natural, you just won't believe it. I couldn't have been happier with her results. I truly believe I could NOT have done better, and that's a very satisfying feeling when you put so much time into picking these vendors. She's a vendor on here, so her number is on the vendors page. Best of luck! Also- just an additional note- she may be difficult to get in touch with, but she always calls back when it counts, and on the day of my wedding, she was at my parent's house early, even before me. She was simply the best. Good luck!!

I go to a girl named Lisa at Fox & Company Salon & Spa in Floral Park. It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Massapequa. Click Me
