looking for help on corsets

im going for my first fitting tomorrow and the bridal store says they carry corsets, and i was counting on that, but they said i should buy one that i know fits just in case.

i was going to buy a corset from fredircks of hollywood- has anyone bought thiers there? were they good for the dress? i am wearing straples gown.

I want to use a store where i can return it in case the bridal shop has a better one.

if anyone has any other suggestions for a corset shop (with easy returns) id most apprecaite it

thanks!

I don't recommend the Frederick's corsets, I found them to be uncomfortable. I wore the below and although I bought it at David's Bridal, they are carried by almost all department stores (like Macy's and Bloomie's). It was so confrotable and slimming. Loved it!

Hey Mel...

I actually purchased my corset at the same place I had purchased my gown (Bridal Reflections) and the seamstress sewed it to my gown...it was VERY comfy!

Your dress place may be able to do the same.

Good luck sweets

I bought a corset-bra thing for when I was MOH in one of my sister's wedding and wore it on my wedding day too--got it at Angels Bridals in East Islip...it's great.

I went to Bra-Tenders in NYC, I thought they were great and I bought a corsett that is comfy and gives me nice curves

I went to a shop in Great Neck - I think its called Bea's Lingerie and its on Middle Neck Rd. Its run by a bunch of little old ladies who have probably been selling bras and corsets for years. I was skeptical about the place when I went in, but they were REALLY helpful. Just be prepared for them to come into your dressing room to assess your situation!

They also can do alterations on the corsets- so you can have one made to fit you perfectly. (Although after checking me out, the lady was able to find one that was an exact fit).

Re: looking for help on corsets

I bought one from Fredericks and it actually ended up being too high in the back for me to wear with my strapless dress (and my dress wasn't really low in the back either). I bought another corset from Mary's in Woodbury that was really nice but I lost a lot of weight before the wedding and needed to have it altered, but they were closed during that week In the end, I ended up spending another $100 to buy one from Wedding Salon of Manhasset (where I got my dress) just so that the corset would fit correctly under the dress. Mary's was really good to work with - it was just unfortunate that they were closed the week before my wedding!

If you want a really high-end corset, the best ones (from what I heard) are made by Meschantes (www.meschantes.com)- I just didn't have enough time to order one. Hope this helps
