Looking to Relocate from Brooklyn-Phoenix

Does anyone on this site live in Phoenix? I've been looking online at homes and areas.My job is opening a branch in the Phoenix area and I hear it is really nice there. I live in Brooklyn and the prices for home/condos/co-ops is ridiculous. They want so much for such a small space.

What is everyone's plans for after the wedding, anyone looking to buy a home?

I don't live in Phoenix, but my parents do and I just purchased a condo for them.

Great area in the outskirts of the foothills. We almost relocated there a few years ago as well.

My parents live in Chandler, about 25-30 minutes from Phoenix. It's nice there, but def not for me. I've been out there to visit about 10 times since they've moved and I can't wait to be back in NY after about 2 days. It's just so much different from here. It all depends on what you like. It's just so quiet. Everything is slower. Not my pace.

My suggestion would be to definitely visit there for at least a week in AUGUST, lol. I get naucious from the heat when I'm there.

Also, you may want to rent an apartment when you first get there to make sure that you like it. And another thing is that you probably want to wait another year to buy a house there because the prices are a little ridiculous right now. They WILL go down.

I agree-go out there and check it out. I also recommend renting first although most of the rental communities have gone condo in the area.

You can still rent a house until you're sure you want to buy something.

There are other areas of Phoenix that you can check out that are still very reasonable. Gilbert for instance, has fairly new homes very close to the city and lots of house for the money.

Can you transfer your NY salary if you go? That will make a huge difference.

The housing market has gone up signficantly over the last few years but still way more reasonable than here.

New jobs are coming to the Phoenix area and there is an Intel plant due to open soon in Chandler and that plant is going to be high tech jobs with big $$. It's going to attract more people to Phoenix.
