We've been anxiously watching it at work.

Apparently, my GWH (Gay Work Hubby) and his partner, who have been together for 17+ years - longer than a lot of marriages last - can't have the joy that we'll all be experiencing this year.

The Church would have a ****-fit if another state passed a gay marriage bill. As it is, the Bible still doesn't recognize unions between same sex couples. Plus, NJ is full of conservative Republicans. They won't vote for gay marriage, get real.

Well as he put it the last time the bill was defeated, 'obviously they don't give a crap about the economy, because they have no idea how lavishly us gays would throw a wedding'.

I know it s u ck s, but the fact that states are even voting on it to begin with is progress for just a short time ago. As our generation gets a little older and starts to infiltrate government bodies a little more thoroughly, it'll happen, it'll be soon.

It's still disappointing though.

You have to have hope for the future though, or else nothing will ever change.

Also, being a very political person myself, I have to say that I don't think that 'Bible' 'conservative' and 'Republican' necessarily mean anti-gay marriage. I know many Republicans who are absolutely for gay marriage. People can't be totally categorized like that.

Also, the Bible doesn't say anything about gay marriage to the best of my knowledge...I'm a rather spiritual person, and I regard the Bible with a sense of seriousness...but I'm very, very liberal in my political views. It's hard to fit people into molds like that.

Actually, the number of registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans in New Jersey.
In addition, there are plenty of Democrats who oppose gay marriage and plenty of Republicans who are for it.

this makes me so incredibly sad. over and over and over again. how have we come so far and we still have so much further to go?

as for our generation.....i'm not holding my breath. while we may be progressing here, i feel like around the country young people are just getting more and more socially conservative.

being a republican has nothing to do with it.
Most of Obamas voters were church going people and were interviewed and said no way...

I am Republican and 100% for gay marriage. My BFF is gay and I feel bad her and her partner don;t have the same rights. They have no problem taking their taxes though.

Do you really think so? Maybe my vision is just colored because I've grown up and stayed in the NY area... but I feel like we as a generation are more open minded, even though some of us have other conservative values, we recgonize as a generation that gay marriage is equal marriage because it has become so much more open and socially acceptable to live openly as a homosexual.

I'm having faith and crossing my fingers... I don't think it's gonna be next year, but I think our kids will grow up finding it strange that at one time gay people couldn't marry.

You have no idea. He has everything planned in his mind...from my wedding research, he'd easily be spending close to the lower six figures.
