Ok ladies..I know we are all looking forward to being married...and being a wife..sharing lives together and all that fairytale stuff. But please take some simple advice from a fellow bride to be. Let your husbands out of the freaking house once in awhile WITHOUT you. My friend got married back in 2005, and i have honestly seen him about two times now since his wedding and each time his wife was there. Don't get me wrong, I do love his wife...BUT...there have been sooo many times when i called & said 'hey want to come out' and i got, 'the wife wants to stay in' which is fine...let HER stay in and YOU come out. To which he'd respond...i can't do that...when i give him crap on it he tells me 'wait til you marry FH and you have him by his privates'...to which i respond...um...no, that's sure as heck ain't happening! We live together now and each go out on our own...i would never tell him to stay in with me if a friend called & i didn't feel like going out. Anyway, it's just sad that he seems to have given up his own life to be married...i don't think that's how it should be. Just something to keep in mind when we become wives...don't become a controlling short leash keeper please!!! (sorry so long but we've been friends for 17 years)

Re: Losing friend to high maintenance wife- Vent
Well I'd think the problem is more with your friend than his wife. If he really wanted to go out, he should talk to her about it. I don't think once you get married, you should be attached at the hip, 24/7 and people do need to maintain their own separate friends and lives. A person can only treat you how you let him/her treat you. He should really work that out with her.

COmpletely agree, though I can say that FH and I are attached at the hip 23/7...we do still have our own time to spend with our own friends-though we prefer to be together. If he wants to go out and I dont he can, Im not going to stop him b/c I know the situation has been the other way.
Good Luck girl, its a tough position to be in but I agree that if he wanted to go out he should tell her

Yeah, he should have nipped this in the bud a long time ago. It's his fault he's stuck! Good luck!

I know it's partly his fault...i think he wants to avoid confrontation and it's just easier...unless he'd prefer to stay in with her than hurt my feelings and say no to me? But i've invited him to some Tae Kwon Do things which i know he loves and would love to go to....arrrgghhhh i will just have to kick his butt!

Re: Losing friend to high maintenance wife- Vent
Sorry you're going through this. I have this same problem, and sadly it's at the point where I just have to accept that as I get older I'm going to lose certain people from my life. It doesn't help that my friend's FW doesn't really like my group of friends. We're just very different - my group is very social, likes to drink, and is usually planning large outings. Even a fancy dinner is 15-20 people. She's more of the one-on-one type and doesn't drink at all - which isn't a problem, but she thinks we need to grow up. Maybe we do, but we're having too much fun right now to worry about that

i know exactly what u mean and i kno that many new brides do this to their husbands ive seen it many a time...lucky for me fh and i are way over our jealous and greedy stage weve been living 2gether about 8 years...but this is good advice ladies give ur man space and let him go out....i kno i get tired of looking at mine sometimes and tell him look u need to to ur boys house or something...i have my nights out and so does he.....i think this is why 50% of people get divorced
