Ok...with 37 days left I am losing inches off my waist, hips and thighs, but not lbs. What can I do in a month to drop 15 lbs?
Edited for spelling...

Re: Losing inches but not lbs....
It's probably that you ARE losing weight but gaining muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat. Losing inches is better I think, it shows more!
On a similar note - sorry to crash your post Jen - I want to gain more muscle on my arms and tone my stomach. I can't really lose weight since my dress won't fit. Anyone have any suggestions for that???

I've been doing that diet for 2 weeks, and nothing. Of course I was PMSing over the weekend, and stuffed my face, and in turn gained 4 lbs!

Re: Losing inches but not lbs....
its because muscles weight more than fat. do you do any weight lifting? if you are you should do lighter weights and more reps.
why do you want to loose lbs? inches are better! you will look better IMO.

I am. I am lifting 5 lbs instead of 10, and doing like 40 reps...I just want to be thinner as well.

It may that I have been using too much weight, but you do short bursts of weights and there are not that many sets. It did it for 4 weeks, and stopped. People were commenting on my arms, and not in a good way....

Re: Losing inches but not lbs....
Don't worry, this happened to me too! I worked out for 5 months and just lost inches and then in the past 3 months I've restricted my eating at night a lot more and increased my workouts from 3- 5 days a week and lost 10 lbs. My trainer told me its 70% what you put in your mouth!!!! It's so true!

I would kill for that problem! Can I ask why you care what the scale says??? If you look great what does it matter what you weigh. Are people picking you up on a daily basis??

Re: Losing inches but not lbs....
I find that running is the best for me...but again I lose more inches than lbs. When I run it takes like 3 months before the lbs start coming off.
Best way to jump start a diet is South Beach. You have to be strict. I did Phase I for a few weeks and lost 5 lbs instantly (I am already petite so 5 lbs was a lot). You have to be very strict though and follow instructions exactly but I PROMISE it works.
Also do you drink a lot of water? Drink at least 6 big glasses a day and one big one right before bed. Eat your last meal no later than 7pm!
I think you have a GOOD chance at dropping some weight in 37 days!!!! Good luck!!!!
PS - as for arms workouts I do about 8 arm exercises 3 days a week at the gym (free weights and machines). I do 3-4 sets of 10 on each thing. Its grueling but worth it.

Re: Losing inches but not lbs....
It's much harder to lose lbs than inches if you are working out. In general though, its much harder to lose inches than lbs, so be proud of your success.
The whole less weight more reps thing is NOT for weight loss. The less weight you are moving the less calories you are burning. You're stunting your weight loss by lowering your weights. I've trained lots of people that have lost 20lbs or more, keep working, the numbers will drop eventually, but the inches really are more important.
