Losing Weight before fittings

Original post by Bride2Be06

up until the last fitting of your dress?
If so, how long before the wedding was your last fitting? weeks? a week?

I am freaking out about my dress fitting....

I hope to lose weight, about 20-25 lbs. I'll probably start after the holidays though.

I lost weight for myself- not for the wedding

I was unhappy with my weight in general

Heck no! I don't understand the 'pressure' ladies have to lose weight for a wedding....FI asked you to marry you b/c of who you are - inside and out...why change that?

Unless, of course one is doing it for health reasons....then, that's a different story!

For me, I put the pressure on myself. DH actually proposed when I was the heaviest I've ever been, so I know he loves me no matter what. I just didn't want to look back at my wedding photos years from now and regret how I looked on my wedding day (I'm really weird about how I look in photos, so I just knew that this was the kind of thing I might do), especially after spending so much for those photos

In terms of what I did to lose the weight (between my engagement and my wedding, I dropped 30-35lbs), I did LA Weight Loss and South Beach. South Beach had quicker results, but the LA Weight Loss weight definitely was easier to keep off

For me, it was something personal that I had to do. I wasn't happy, so I went on South Beach and lost 30 lbs (kept off 26 lbs for 2 years! ). Now I just want to get to my goal. I've kept the weight off for a while, and now I just want to finish up before the wedding. It's because I want to look my best at the wedding, and it's for me and not my FH. The only pressure I have is that I bought my dress and it fit perfectly, so I want to lose a little weight so I have a little extra breathing room. I plan to make the most of cocktail hour

ETA: I'm on South Beach again and I've already lost 2.5 lbs this week. Just started Monday! For those of you curious, I maintained my weight loss by doing weight watchers points system. Of course, I allowed myself to cheat. So combined with the points it cancelled out any bad I did.

I lost quite a bit of weight between the time I ordered my gown and my 1st fitting. my dress had to be taken 12 inches!!

my seamstress was AWESOME! my dress fit to perfection. my last fitting was 2 weeks before the wedding. But I tried it on one last time 1 week before the wedding when I picked it up.

Nope, I tried to lose a little weight but in the end I basically maintained my weight, my last fitting was a month before the wedding (since I wanted my mother to bring the dress to NY, got dress in VA and she was done here then). I was pretty happy in the end how I looked, but NOW I have gained and am trying to lose to what I was!

I lost 30 pounds for my wedding day, and if I'm not mistaken my final fitting was about 10 days before the wedding. All was okay.

In the past two years, I've lost about 14 pounds. I did it for myself, b/c I knew that I wasn't healthy anymore and something had to be done. With roughly 6 -10 pounds to go before goal, one of my main concerns is making sure that the halter fits perfectly (and if not, I won't go crazy), and that is motivating me to go to the gym and tone up. I am also signing up for pilates classes in January with a coworker - can't wait!

I posted this because I MYSELF am UNHAPPY about my weight. I want to look my best on my wedding day and I KNOW that this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW MY FH FEELS ABOUT ME. He has told me a million times over that I AM PERFECT...and I love that he feels that way but I DONT feel great being overweight. So, I am putting the 'pressure' on myself to lose the weight so I am healthy and so that I feel confident. So far I lost 20lbs and I feel better already! Still, I know that I want to lose more so.....that dress is my motivation!!!!!

Hi!
Well, really as much as possible...
I am 5 7 and I weight 188 right now ...so I want to lose as much as I can...
I know that I would be happy at 170.... (I have a large frame and huge feet...size 11...so I would look great at this weight!)

What about you?

Any Kleinfelds girls who got there dress altered - Do they care if you have to get another alteration 1-2 weeks before the wedding??? When I was there they mentioned that they like to have the dress completely altered 1 month before the wedding.. YIKES!

I didn't get my dress there, but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

a friend of mine had to have her dress taken in 2 days before her wedding. most brides lose weight whether they want to or not in the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding - just from nerves.

for the first time in my life, everyone around me was telling me to eat because I had zero appetite for a week..... yea, that will never happen again
