Does anyone have any expierence with this? My mother passed away so not sure if It would just say Mr.XXX XXX invites you to the marriage of his daughter....would you mention the deceased parent on the invitation? Maybe somewhere on the bottom, in loving memory or is this not appropriate for an invitation?
Thanks girls :)

Loss of a Parent on Invitations
My dad passed away when I was young and I'm putting the late Mr(my dad's name) and Ms(my mom's name) Also a friend of mine who's dad passed away put the late(his dad's name) and then put his mom and step dad right after. So yes I'd mention your mom if that's what you want.

You can put the Late Mrs. or on the back of your programs you can have a special in remembrance of section. You can also honor her with a memorial candle or a picture charm for your bouquet. Im sorry about your loss.

I lost my Dad and I was going to put 'The Late' but the person I was working with kinda talked me out of it. I am doing alot of things in memory of my dad so I agreed with her!

My FMIL passed away and we will be having ' The Late Mrs. & Mr. ' on ours. It is an elegant way to honor them.

Loss of a Parent on Invitations
When my aunt and uncle got married, my grandmother was already deceased so it said:
Mr. and Mrs. Michael X
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Adrianna Marie
to
Kevin Gerard, son of
Mr. & Mrs+ John X
The cross next to my grandmother's name symbolized that she was deceased.

My husbands father passed away in 94 but he still wanted him on the invites. We did 'to Michael son of Rita and the late William' everyone thought it was a nice touch

Loss of a Parent on Invitations
Sorry to crash, but I was wondering what to do about this too. My dad passed just over a year ago and my mom is paying for the wedding. I want to honor both my parents but I wasn't sure if it's weird to list The Late Mr. X. I don't think we're listing my FH's parents because his dad isn't in the picture and he's not close to his mom. Not sure how that will correspond with proper wedding etiquette.

Re: Loss of a Parent on Invitations
My father passed away 6 years ago and I am really sensitive about it so we decided not to name any of our parents by their names on the invitations, we also are paying for majority of the wedding ourselves, so we put our names and something like 'together with their parents'

Re: Loss of a Parent on Invitations
The traditional etiquette is not to include the name of the deceased parent or parents on wedding invitations, because the logic is that someone who is deceased cannot be the host of a wedding and invite guests. (However, it is absolutely appropriate to include a deceased parent in wedding announcements, wedding programs, the ceremony, and any other way you’d like to honor them.)
That being said, this article from Bridal Guide Magazine says it is OK, as long as you word it in such a way that it does not appear is if the invitation were being sent by the deceased person: http://www.bridalguide.com/etiquette/bridal-etiquette-qas/wedding-invitation-etiquette/invitation-wording-deceased-parents
They suggest:
Together with their families, Jennifer Drake, daughter of John Drake and the late Barbara Drake, and Brian Connors, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Connors, request the honour of your presence at their marriage, etc.
More traditional wording:
The honour of your presence is requested at the marriage of Jennifer Drake, daughter of John Drake and the late Barbara Drake, to Brian Connors, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Connors, etc.
So, I’d say do whatever feels right for you…

if his parents aren't contributing to the wedding, you don't have to list them

I like the Bridal Guide's idea. I'm not a fan of 'The Late..'
