I think it was sawyer in the casket, I don't know why but I think it was! But then kate said something about having to get home to someone and I thought that might have been sawyer so I guess i have a one track mind.

no, it was BEN... think about it, Ben's WHOLE LIFE was on that island, of course no one would be at his funeral... he didnt KNOW anyone in the real world. And Kate said: 'why would I go to the funeral?'

Yes, this was the season finale....

I didnt realize that the flash was a flash-forward either-I dont think you were supposed to!

FH says the flashback is pre-crash and jack and kate knew eachother. i disagree, i think it is post-crash.

Who do you think was in the casket? it has to be someone that wasnt liked or kate wouldnt have had that reaction 'why would i?' (go to the funeral)

I am so sad to see charlie go, but at least we were prepared

its got to be post crash... he says we should have never left that island

omg this show has been F**in with me for 3 years!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr

I think it's Ben too but check out the newspaper clipping Jack kept holding. Can anyone make anything else out?

watched it again last night and it made so much more sense the second time around - since i knew that everything was flash forwards ...

i thought Jacks dad was dead? but in the flash forwards he was talking about his dad in the present tense?

I think he was so drugged up he didn't even know what he was saying. I think they put that in there to make us think it was a flash back.

I read yesterday if you rearrange the funeral parlor's name 'HOFFS/DRAWLAR' - you get...

FLASH FORWARD!!!

that was the best season finale ever. they are supposed to change the whole show around. so it will probably be all flashforwards instead of flashbacks.

I agree..I think from now on it is all going to be flashfowards! Thank God! That would be awesome...you think Kate and Sawyer end up together?? I felt so bad for Jack he sure took a turn for the worse!

Simply put, we never saw Charlie 'die', we just assume it's going to happen because it would be almost impossible for it not to happen... but this IS Lost. Rarely (if ever) have I seen a season finale that kills off a crucial character without showing the character in a confirmed state of death for all to mourn. The way it was set up - we were built up to love the character of Charlie and we were all rooting for him to make it. The 'death scene' was designed to invoke as much emotion as possible given that we 'knew' it was coming.

With all that sorrow built up on a season ending cliffhanger, given that they didn't actually verify his death, it opens a perfect piece to start a new season, because most will be thrilled if he ends up making it. It's perfect storytelling.

Mark it down. He lives.

I loved Charlie!! And while I hope this post is right, I think they killed him off. Its not the first time they killed a major character. I kinda took the part where he closed his eyes and started drifting as them trying to show him having a peaceful death.

And how crazy is it that he was talking to Penny!!!?

But since it is a flash forward there is a lot of information we are missing, it could be anyone.

Re: LOST?

Who knows how true this is...I found it on a website. Supposedly, someone rotated the closeup of the article and switched a few thisngs around and came up with this.

'The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.

Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.

Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.

According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.

Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening.'

I believe this is an extrapolation as there was never a fully clear shot of the article (believe me, I looked!)

Might I ask what website you got this from?

I agree with you...there's no way the producers would allow that information to be revealed.

Unless some of the 815-er's are taking aliases in the real world after the rescue I have no idea who this could be??

Also I searched a slightly different spelling of the name in Wikipedia and came up with an interesting entry...

'John Aubrey Clarendon Latham, (February 23, 1921 – January 1, 2006, born in Zambia) was a conceptual artist whose work was founded upon his personal ethical and scientific beliefs. For instance he believed that violence and conflict between the people of the world is the result of ideological differences. He wed fellow artist and collaborator Barbara Steveni in 1951 and together they devised the idea of 'flat-time', based on the theoretical physics of Event Structure.'

HERE

I figured since alot of the other castaways are named after famous (or infamous) philosiphers and artists that this may be something too....
