I posted about this a little while ago, but I'm just... lost and confused, really lost and confused...
The Knot's wedding to-do list, that I've been using a lot, says I should have booked a florist by now.
I am really worried about my ability to find a florist who isn't awful and who will make me the bouquet I want when its the only wedding flowers I need. I wanted a dark purple bouquet and those flowers are a little harder to come by than other flowers (even lavender is easier) and I don't want to carry a single flower or tie them myself... and I live in Manhattan and can't spend a whole day wandering Long Island looking for a florist in a car I don't have... and even if I could, I would be at a loss for what I need to do first...
I'm just feeling, just completely awful and hopeless about it. Is it normal for wedding planning to make you this melodramatic?
If anyone knows a nice friendly florist that wouldn't sneer at me for asking for only a nice bouquet, feel free to let me know.
I'm going to go walk around my apartment and mope now. Bleh.

Re: Lost and Confused
If you're only doing a bouquet for yourself, your best bet is to go to a local florist near your RH.
Also, if you live in Manhattan there are a ton of places in the flower district on 27th street I think. Fisher and page is a great one. They can give you lots of ideas of what flowers to use. If you're crafty, you can even make it the day before your wedding.

Try LA Blossom - owned by Laurie. She is a vendor here. I only asked her to make 2 bouquets, 2 silk small boks, and about 6 bouts. Great prices and really great to work with, She would make you just the one bok I am sure!!!!! She was one of my favorite vendors. You can see my bok in my avatar pic - it was stunning!

Verbena got back to me and said she is definitely willing to work with my small order. And she had all kinds of advice and was so helpful. I'm going to meet with her next week. I have a good feeling about it; she was so friendly sounding in her email.
Thank you everyone for your help and advice thus far!

Re: Lost and Confused
Flowers by Brian - they do amazing work! My cousin used them. I may too.
Karen Bussen is in Manhattan, she's an event planner. I think she does flowers too, not sure, but she has great taste (I like her books), she may know some pretty good florists if she doesn't handle it herself anymore.

Re: Lost and Confused
First, I just want to let you know that you shouldn't worry. I did not book flowers until 6 weeks before the wedding date. I figured that I would definitely get someone to do flowers for me and I had a tough time finding the 'right one'. You have plenty of time.
I went with Keyth from Lovin' Oven. I had a very dark purple bouquet also. I loved loved his work look in my album under 'non pro wedding pics'. There is a picture of my bouquet.
Good luck! You can FM me if you have any questions. I met with about 5 or 6 florists.
