I absolutely loved it. Not much of a plot, but I didn't care. The relationship between the two main characters was so subtle and sweet. I also loved Bill Murray's performance.
I have friends who've been to Japan, and they say that the film really captures the amazing and surreal quality of Tokyo, too.

I didn't dislike it per say...But I guess I had higher expectations being that I saw it AFTER it had won all the awards and such.
It did have some funny moments, but overall, I could not see what all the hype was about.

Well add me to the minority .. I'm with you 100% ... I thought it was average at best. I liked the characters and laughed a few times, but not enough to think it was a GREAT movie.
FH rented it and turned it off halfway through .. watched the rest the next day.. we STILL couldn't understand what the big deal was about

my thoughts too. i loved Bill Murray in it... and i really felt the connection between the characters.... but some of it i was like 'ok what was the point of that??'
and not much of a plot which i found frustrating.

I thought it was great...the best movie I've seen in awhile (but that's not saying much considering the movies that have been released this past year! )

I loved it. I thought it beautifully captured what it was like to be an American in a foreign, non-English speaking country (I studied in Hungary when I was in college).

I agree with you. I was expecting so much more and I was completely bored. I thought the acting/writing was wonderful however.

Yes! As a Roxy Music fan, I was thrilled! And 'What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding' was priceless too!!!!!!!!!
