I really need some comfort and advice ladies.. please.. we recently found an apt... a one bedroom for now.
The previous apartment we found was really really big (livingroom, bedroom) but kitchen was small and no closets, no security in the lobby, no laundry room.It also had high ceilings and looked huge for a one bedroom. I was hesitant because it was 1,400 for a 1 bedroom and it was in Feb. We are moving in, in May and I didnt want FH and I to shell out 3 months rent for no reason.
Fast forward until now... The current apartment we found (which FH put 1 months security deposit, etc) everything is done, is kind of smaller. It is however, right by the beach, and across from the bay. Kitchen is huge and renovated with lots of closets, bedroom is kind of small (which is what is stressing me out), living room is big not not HUGE like the other apartment. There are lots of closets, lots throughout the apartment, which is why I think the house looks smaller?.
Now, I am stressed bc the bedroom is small. Is having a larger kitchen more important (to where you can fit a huge 6 person table) or a larger bedroom? I am so stressed, and I dont even want to tell FH because I dont want to upset him. I figured maybe we can always move out after a year? is a beautiful building (security, laundry room, etc) but the bedroom is smaller than I remembered when I first saw it. Sorry for the long vent. I really need advice

I would definitely rather have a large kitchen than a large bedroom. Realistically, the bedroom doesn't get used that much and how it looks isn't that important - but the kitchen is where you spend a majority of your time. I also love to cook and entertain so having a small kitchen would be awful for me!

honestly....from my own experience i can tell you id much rather have the smaller bedroom and take all those other ammenties
fh and i live in a 1 bedroom with a huge LR and huge BR.....our kitchen is tiny and we have no laundry in our building. we do have decent closet space but i could def use more.
i am dyinngggg for a bigger kitchen and a place with laundry. our bed room is big but we dont even need that much room...its a lot of wasted space.
dont stress!! i think your much better off in this place than the other!!!

u dont need a large bedroom. when guests come over, youre going to bei n your living room and kitchen..not youre bedroom. (unless u have liw ladies over who like to lay on your bed lol)

We just recently moved and our bedroom went from having A LOT of space to a smaller one where I didn't even think the bedroom furniture would fit. Now? I LOVE it! With the furniture it looks bigger and my kitchen is easier to move around in then the old one. Think about it, where do you spend most of your time and where do guests spend time when they come over?
And like you said, if you don't like it, after a year you can move out and find something after the wedding.

totally would prefer more closets and a bigger kitchen. The bedroom is used for sleeping and getting dressed - which my FH doesnt even do in the bedroom - he dresses in bathroom bc I take over the bedroom. When you have company or friends over - you dont hang out in your bedroom - you stay in kitchen or living room! Sounds like you guys made an excellent choice - the fact that there is laundry and security is a plus!!!!!!

kitchen size is way more important than bedroom's by the sound of it u found a better deal
take it from someone who has very small closer space and not an eat it kitchen, tho the bedroom is a very nice spacious size - I would switch to smaller bedroom in a heartbeat if it meant more closets and big kitchen with lots of cabinets right now our apt is always sooo messy just b/c we have no where to store all of our crap
dont worry sound like a much better deal than the other apt

Yeah I mean it has a walk in closet and another small closet (which is why the bedroom looks so small? its not huge but decent) and we can fit a queen set with dresser drawers etc.... I am just so used to my house with big rooms, which is why I think I am freaking out like the transition of my parents house to my own. The kitchen is beautiful its marble newly furnished, but I figured no one sees your kitchen really.. but like, I just wish it was bigger... the livingroom is decent 3 couches, table, and entertainment center... I have just been stressing it because I was comparing it to the old place we saw with HIGH HIGH ceilings. UGH why does rent have to be so expensive in Brooklyn

ita! and being right next to the beach...can't beat that! And I dunno about you, but closet space is muuuust for me! I think you made the right decision

take it from someone who has a tiny kitchen/dining room, i would rather a bigger kitchen/dining room over a big bedroom any day. think of it like this, in the bedroom you are going to sleep & store your clothes. but when friends & family are over you rather have space for them in the kitchen/dining room.

SMALLER BEDROOM FOR SURE!!!!
I live in an apt with a teeny bedroom (only room for bed & two nightstands) and a huge LR and it's awesome!
There's plenty of room for guests to hang out when they come over, and I really don't need more space in my bedroom. We had a big bedroom in our last apt and other than room for a dresser, I don't miss it!

i would def take the smaller bedroom.... i had a huge bedroom in my co-op that i sold last year so we could buy our house... and we have a much smaller bedroom in the house. honesty, most of the time you spend in there will be on the bed speeping....you really don't need that much room to dance around! LOL We are even managing to fit a king size bed in ours after my shower.
remember when you entertain, people are always drawn to the kitchen. the extra room there will be utilized much more than the bedroom. and it sounds like the living room is not HUGE... but it does not sound like its small either!

Definitely take the bigger kitchen. And if this place has lots of closet space, JUMP on it!!!! Closet space is HUGE!!!!

My bedroom is the size of a closet lol but the rest of my apartment is a nice size and its right in the village of Port Jeff which is great!!!! I would totally rather a bigger kitchen than a bedroom and its not permanent so its fine dont worry about the size of ur br for now u wont be in it often, you will spend much more time in the other parts of the apartment!!! Annnnnnnd lots of closet space thats AWESOME who doesnt need closet space, and by the beach thats perfect!!!!!! Try not to worry about the size of the br and just remember its not forever!!!!!!

I can not wait til we move out of this hole in the wall apartment. When that will be I have no idea.
