Love Hate and Everything In The Middle

Love Hate and Everything In The Middle

We are all brides or brides to be so I expect that we have all experienced the feeling of being 'in love'. Scientists say that it's actually a biological/chemical reaction that fuels our emotions to cause this state.

So my question is, does the opposite exist? if it does exist do you say I am 'in hate'? Do you think your body can experience a chemical reaction that is connected to the strong emotions of contempt in the same manner that the body will experience an in love reaction to strong attraction?

It confuses me because the opposite of love is actually apathy, right? And by definition you can't feel 'STRONG' disinterest, right?

What do you think?

I think it is called PMS. We hate everything in the world except salty and sweet treats.

Also, I just ate dinner and I'm still hungry.

Deep thoughts with JB.

What makes you ask this?

At least you don't hate them.
It's better to be apathetic.
They are strange creatures sometimes, those ILs.

I think love and hate are on the opposite sides of the passion spectrum. Simple explanation.

Absolutely.

I can honestly say that I hate 1 person on this planet. It is a man I work with. He walks in the room and the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get almost a nauseous feeling. I can't look at him, he is absolutely disgusting. Thinking about him right now is making me mad. I don't like feeling like that. Sometimes I wish I didn't hate him as much as I do.

I really hope that isn't how you feel about you ILs. It's not a fun feeling.

Eh. I don't hate them. I just don't really care much for them one way or the other.

I guess I was asking because I wonder if love really can be explained away as a chemical reaction. If so, logic would dictate that all strong emotions have a similar bio-chemical type of response.

I don't feel any particular biological response to anyone - but I don't really HATE anyone. Dislike intensely, have apathy for... not really hate. Maybe I am not thinking broadly enough... are there any other strong feelings that I am not thinking of?

I have a strong hate when I am behind the wheel and some driver sux.
Like... rage. I would say that is the opposite of head spinning love.

Not the love that you grow into, but the kind of love, like- falling in love with a rock star at a concert, when you're 15.

For the record, I saw the guy (I hate) today. I told him that the company should have fired him when they got the chance.

He laughed because he doesn't hate me one bit and thought I was kidding. I laughed too because I knew I meant it. I feel better.

Biologically it is in a female's best interest to experience LOVE and want to hold onto a provider. Having another person with you in LOVE will help increase the chances that you are successful in reproduction and raising children ie increase your genetic proliferation.

Biologically there is no real drive for hatred, beyond phobias towards things like darkness, snakes, spiders (things that could have resulted in death for our more primative ancestors). I think being in love in natural, and hatred is something that needs to be worked at It isn't really functional on a biological level, it is more of a societal thing.
