Low key DJ/MC?

I want a DJ who can read the crowd and keep them on the dance floor, but I really hate in your face MC's.

I can describe what I don't want based on 2 examples

1) at my sister's wedding, the DJ not only did a conga line against her wishes, but came over to the tables and was like 'come on table 7, let's go'...we actually took our number off the table, but then he was like 'come on bridesmaids'

2) We saw a video at our photographer and in the beginning of the reception there was a whole lazer and smoke light show to announce...not the bride and groom, but the MC, and he talked the whole time and made himself the center of attention


What I do want:

Someone who can definitely read the crowd and keep people on the dance floor

Someone to make announcements and keep it going..

Saying the occasional 'Now it's time for all the couples to get out on the dance floor', or whatever, is ok, but anything beyond that would really REALLY pizz me off.

Any suggestions?

I wanted a DJ who was ok with actually keeping the music lower than usual since my dad had two hearing aides at the time of the wedding and my step mom is deaf in one ear. I really wanted the music to be back-burner to the rest of the party (ie: the food!!!!) lol...

We went with Variety -- Ray was our MC and Danny was our DJ -- their price was great, and they had a great balance of keeping people dancing and having fun but not being in your face.

Plus Ray's voice is like a radio DJ sorta sound which made me feel famous when he was introducing us lol.

I had the exact same criteria for my DJ. I hate the obnoxious, cheesy DJs who spend the whole party yelling out annoying annoucements!
