Low-Key MC - is it worth paying for it?

FI and I are going on our DJ appointments and he really wants a non-intrusive MC who will pretty much do nothing but the annoucements. I agree on non-intrusive, but I want the MC to do something, afterall we are being charged more to have an MC.

Has anyone had just a DJ and no MC? How did that work out?

i would get an mc and give them strict instructions. mc will keep your party going. you dont want 1 person doing both as they might forget something while trying to do both duties. i barely remember here my mc during wedding with the exception when he had to say something

We had just a DJ because we also just wanted a low key kind of person. WE knew we had a lot of dancers in the crowd, so we weren't worried about people getting up to dance. (IMO, it's a wedding- either people will dance or not, I don't think the MC really 'motivates' people to dance, but I am sure others will disagree with this....)

Our DJ did just the basic announcements: toast, first dance, anniversary dance and cake cutting. It went really well and I would highly recommend him - Mike D. from L&S Entertainment. There prices were really good as well!
