FH and I already live together. We put everything we need on our Bed Bath and Beyond registry.
We are currently looking at homes to buy and could really use things from HD or Lowes..
Please be honest!!
-Has anyone done it??
-Is it somewhat...tacky??
-What could my girflriend buy there that they can bring to a bridal shower??
- Is it possible to just list give cards??

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
ocfourse you can register for gift cards!
Depends on what you want from there, if ur gf could bring someting to a shower.
it isnt tacky at all...we register at BBB bc we need housewares for our home....
You need items found in lowes or HD for your registry...I think its a great idea!!!

I don't think it's tacky at all to do Home Depot or Lowe's- they can get you gift cards to those stores!
I also wanted to do Home Depot or Lowe's but forgot so I mostly did Target, BBB, Macy's, LNT, and Pottery Barn.

Personally I think its a good idea. Dom and I are either registering at HD, Lowes or Sears so we can get that kind of stuff too.

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
We registered at Home Depot. In my opinion, it is the most useful. We have lived together for 3 years and just bought our house. Everything we Really need is from Home Depot.
I would love a gift card from there...

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
They can totally get gift cards from there. I'm sure you can actually register for gifts cards too (I know my friend did at Macy's).
I know I've gone to Lowe's a lot for storage bins and shelves (they were cheaper than BB&B). I think a person can totally buy those types of things and bring them to a shower.

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
We were going to register at Lowes but FH said that 4 places might be a bit too much!!! We don't plan on buying a house in NY so we don't want to have to move all the 'big' things that we would have received from Lowes. I think its a great idea though.

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
We registered at home depot, just for gift gards. Lowes was really difficult to work with. We tried setting it up there first, however, they won't let you register for gift cards. Home Depot allows you to add gift cards to your registry. That is what we really want from there anyway. We plan on doing a ton of rennovations to our house after the wedding.

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
My cousin registered at Home Depot last year, but I don't think he got anything from there yet (wedding is in July).
I think its a good idea to register there, but I won't be doing it b/c my FH is quite possibly the least handy man in the world, so anything we get from there would never be used!

I don't think it's tacky at all to register at Lowes or Home Depot! Especially if you just bought or plan to buy a house. I think it's a great idea
I do think it's a little tacky to say you ONLY want gift cards (anywhere).

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
OK the home depot site is really annoying! Apparently you can only do a registry online and if guests want to buy something they can only do it online..
OR you can do it through the store but then guests can NOT view anything online??
Meanwhile, the guys there today told us that we HAD to register online regardless??
Im about to tell FH he is out of luck and go to Crate and Barrel with my sister!!

Re: Lowes or Home Depot registy?????
You do have to register for home depot online and you can not access the registry in the store. For us, that wasn't a problem b/c we really only registered for gift cards.
It was not a convenient registry, but for us, it was practical. the more gift cards we get from there, the better! we'll use them all.

OK I think I got it.. you don't literally have anything in your registry, but below it is a link to gift cards, because you click on ACCEPT GIFT CARDS!!
So, In the message we wrote, a gift card would be the perfect gift to help us with the new house..
and basically that is it??? right??? Uggghhh ok, I think ill stick with it, practical for us..YES...practical setting it up..NO

Do what you need to do for your situation. Gift cards are easy for people too. Either way your registry should reflect your needs as a couple.

We actually have a couple of fans on our registry, so those are the only items, but I don't anticipate anyone buying them. Other than that, you got it, just the accepts gift cards option. I told my family and MOH to spread the word on the explanation for wanting gift cards.
there are a lot of times these days where I feel like its time for a drink.
