What a big boy I have! He was so good, he didn't fuss, put up a fight or even flinch. In fact, I was holding his one hand and he looked at me and said 'Boo boo' He was so cute.
I am so glad we had a plastic surgeon do the stitches on him last Saturday. They take their time (and knowledge) to ensure minimal scarring. But apparently, it will look bad before it looks good. The body builds up new proteins to repair itself after a deep would and it may look raised or red for a few months as it repairs. It will be about a year and a half if we know if he will have a scar. I also need to do scar massage on him with cocoa butter or vitamin E or one of the other brand name scar healing products they have out there, it really helps alot according to the doctor.
Added bonus that I couldnt care less about when we were at the ER: the plastic surgeon accepts our insurance plan so we have no real out of pocket for his work.

Glad Lukie is feeling better. Also to help prevent permanent scarring make sure you put sunblock on the area. One of the biggest causes of scarring is the sun.

Re: Luke got his stitches out today
Thanks everyone, I'm glad that I'm hearing the vitamin E works so well, that's what we'll use.
Wendy, that's right the doctor said also to use plenty of sunblock. Im glad this didnt happen during the summer where it would be exposed so soon to the sun. For some reason, Luke doesnt mind winter hats but he hates other hats like baseball caps (at least he did last year) so I cant even count on some shielding of the sun from one of those.

Re: Luke got his stitches out today
One of the many battle scars kids get, I have one teeny tiny scar on my forehead. SO glad to hear he is ok. Kiss him on it for me.
