Ok-here it goes. My bottom 2 teeth became very crooked afer my wisdom teeth came in. Also- my teeth are badly stained from smoking(which i stopped) and iced tea. I wanted to at least bleach them before the wedding but thought that it might be a better idea just to get them straightened at the same time. I have no idea about cosemetic dentistry and prices but was interested in lumineers or porcelin veneers. Does anyone know positives/negatives about them as well as the price. Also- if anyone knows a good dentist who does this-let me know. I just figured that i should get it done in one shot.

Re: Lumineers Question
Funny that this comes up...I am getting lumineers done as well on my front 8 teeth as well as a gum lift.
My dentist charges $1450 per tooth and they are offering a 25% discount today. I would call and set up an appt ASAP. They are the BEST!!!!!!!!!
Its www.smileinthecity.com and I would recommend the to everyone. They are really good at what they do and sweet and totall accomadating.
They are a bit pricey but we are in NYC and I would prefer to pay a bit more and get quality product. Both my dentists are board certified and the dentist that is putting the lumineers on is certified to do so, not everyone is, so be careful.
If you have any questions FM me.

Re: Lumineers Question
I had porcelin veneers done on 6 of my teeth about 4 years ago. At the time, my dentist charged me roughly $6,000 (so about $1,000 a tooth) - although I'm sure that's gone up.
He did an amazing job! No one believes that they are not my natural teeth - they don't look fake at all but are perfect. It was not an easy job because I had a side space (which is very difficult to fix) and relatively 'short' teeth so there were a lot of extra procedures I had to go through to make sure I had the right proportion of height to width otherwise the veneers would look like chiclets (believe it or not according to my dentist, there is a perfect proportion when it comes to teeth - who knew?)
I haven't had any problems with them at all and think it's the best thing I ever did.

Re: Lumineers Question
I'm a dentist in Connecticut - grew up on LI - and the prices the girls are quoting you are about right. The difference btwn lumineers and veneers is that no tooth structure is removed for lumineers. If you need recontouring/reshaping of your teeth, then this might not be an option. Veneers are VERY techinque sensitive, so definately look into a dentist who is familiar with this type of dentistry. IMO - $1500 is a little high, but NY is definately the reason for that. Believe it or not, fees are MUCH cheaper in every other state! Sorry!
In terms of bleaching - I've been loving the new REV system. I'm not a fan of Zoom, and this is only 15 min a day and we've gotten great results!
HTH!
