we are fixing up our house in lynbrook and of course that means a lot of fast food and not a lot of home cooking - the only thing that we seem to find around us is the white castles on sunrise hway (we are not familiar with the area at all)
does anyone know what else is around there and where?
one can not live on white castle alone lol

there is a shopping center on sunrise highway.. west of white castles... there is subway, starbucks, pizza uno and I think pudgies or something like that.. then there is quiznos north of sunrise on broadway( i think)... u also have wendys and burger king and those things on merrick road towards valley stream... adn then there are delis and chinese and mickey d's on sunirse and roackway avenue in valley stream...
i work in that area ... so we are always ordering from different places.... hope it helps

I was actually just going to write about all those because ILs live in Malverne, used to live in Valley Stream and we have friends in Lynbrook so DH knows that area really well.

When we visit my ILs (in Hewlett) we get take-out from Paradiso pizza in Rockville Center. They have the best food!

Villa Marias in East Rockaway is good, you take Atlantic to the end and then make a left. You'll see it, right by the diner.
Yuki on Atlantic has awesome Japanese.

Quizno's on Broadway just south of Merrick Rd. Angelinas on Atlantic. I worked in the McDonalds on Merrick looooong ago.

Wendys in East Rockaway...I wont eat at the one in lynbrook, just because I worked there when I was a kid.
Subway in Phillips plaza shopping center on sunrise hwy.
For Pizza I would recommend Rosas in Valley Stream on merrick road across from the valley stream pool
For Italian food, I would recommend going to the pizza place right across from the post office on Broadway...
The atlantic deli is also good for sandwiches on atlantic avenue....

For yummy little snacks try Cafe Napoli on Rockaway Ave (off of merrick road or sunrise highway) The valbrook diner on merrick road has always been an old favorite too.

I know exactly what you're going through. My FI and I just moved to Lynbrook (from Valley Stream) this past summer. We just re-did our kitchen and we spent the past three months eating take out!! Boy, does it get expensive!! Here are a few places that we've relied on:
Beckman's Deli on Union Avenue - GREAT sandwiches and hot foods - definitely worth trying!
Michael's Pizza on Broadway - we really enjoy their sicilian!
Marinara on Peninsula Blvd. in Hewlett - the BEST Italian restaurant around - I love their buffalo chicken pizza!
There is also a Wendy's on Merrick Road, the Philip's Plaza shopping center which has tons of places (which someone already posted about!), and a Taco Bell (yuck - but FI loves it) on Merrick Road as well.

By the way - where in Lynbrook did you move? Doesn't happen to be a dead end street does it? We know the house on our block was just sold to a nice 'young couple' - Is that you?!?! :)

The Val Brook Diner is on Merrick Road in Valley Stream. It is right across the street from Guys & Dolls Billiard.

Better than the Valbrook is the East bay Diner in Oceanside. They make the best Almond pancakes in the world lol.

Me and FH LOVE Angelinas...seriously, they have amazing italian food. Whenever I go back home to lynbrook, we go there to eat a few times in one weekend!

I havent been to Angelinas since they switched owners...I remember the food was really good when I went the last time.
I forgot another place that I used to love to eat at when I lived in Lynbrook.
That was CD GIBSONS. It is on the street that is behind the train tracks. It is a one way street that intersects with atlantic avenue. There is a liquor store on the corner on atlantic ave. Scott
