Hey!! FYI - Macs are really good for graphics and if you're graphic savvy. Otherwise, I'd stick with a PC.

I do a lot with digital photograpahy but I am not a graphic artist or anything. I dont know what to do! I would switch in a minute but I just know not a lot of things are compatible for instance shutterfly

I LOVE Mac. Use it at work and at home. And if you buy a Mac, it can run Windows, too, if you choose! But I found once I got used to using a Mac at work, I hated going home and using a PC.
do you find a lot is not compatible?

my good friend uses a mac at work and pc at home...she uses an hp for all her graphics stuff (dreamworks uses hp pcs too). i originally wanted a mac and she said its not worth the extra $ because the office programs dont run as well and a bunch of websites dont work so it might get a little annoying.
but personally they look sooooo coool! hahaha
i dont know if that was any help!

They've made MACs a lot more compatible with windows programs. I would check out the kinds of programs you'd miss most in windows and then go see what your options would be with a MAC.

Re: MAC vs. PC
what about for doing video projects? I want to make a photo slide show for my RD and that's making me want a Mac - just because I hear they're better with media.
I have no idea tho!

Re: MAC vs. PC
depends. . . i use macs at school for graphic design, and a pc i have at home. i'd rather have a mac, i think . . . . lol
i hinted to my parents about a labtop for xmas, but i really wnated a mac, but there so much more expensive than a pc. . . .
depends, if ur into graphics and stuff, and playing w/ images, all those adobe programs work better and move faster with a mac rather than a pc

Re: MAC vs. PC
I have a mac and I hate it, I'm dying to get a regular pc. However, I do have a friend that got a mac and paid the $ $ to take classes to learn how to use it and she loves. I thought I'd figure it out on my own. I was wrong.

Re: MAC vs. PC
If you're just a computer dabbler (email, word docs, a few pix, movies), either is fine... you wouldn't be 'challenging' the machine, PC or Mac.
If you're doing heavier things (serious gaming, analysis, and yes, I personally believe also imaging.....) macs are at a serious deficit.... It has nothing to do with it's intrinsic set-up.... more for software compatibility. The bulk of software (barring the OS operating system) is usually written for PC's and then merely translated for Macs..... end result, the programs are a bit buggy and tend to crash more frequently than PC's. The majority of professional software is not even offered in a Mac version.....
However, if you don't need hardcore software, and only will need word, and internet... either is fine...
(Personal recommendation: I love my sony vaio....... And if you're going to watch a lot of movies or play games, pay extra for a good video card!)

Re: MAC vs. PC
DH and I have 2 Mac computers! Mine is a laptop. I would never go back to PC... the mac is so easy to use and works great! I have had my laptop for 4 years and it still runs just as fast and has the same batter life (never updated anything). HIGHLY recommend a mac!
My DH is a graphic designer so a mac was the obvious choice for him. He's been using mac computers for the last 8 years or so.

If you're into graphics and what not, then do the MAC otherwise stick to a regular PC.

Listen to me, Mac's rule. No Pc compares to a MAC. I got my lab top last year and the programs that mac has especially graphic, making videos and photo library. FM me if you have any questions. FH has Mac desktop. We are mac fanatics.

I like PC's but that's because I've never owned a MAC and I don't plan on it!!
