Macys Bridal

need to go for a fitting as my dress just came in at macys in lake grove. They told me there is no cap on alterations...did you guys use them or take your dress elsewhere?

All i will need is a hem and a bussel..and maybe take out one seem a little...

Seems like alterations is a huge expense..they told me it may be as much as $300..is that normal? I'm afraid to take it somewhere else that I don't know...but don't want to overpay..help! fitting is on monday!

is really up to you... the cost for my alterations was $159 and i needed them to tighten up the bodice (damn small chest haha) hem it and i needed an under bustle under the tulle and a bustle for the tulle as well. my sister said that my alteration price was a little much but i was glad that it wasn't too much for me to handle...in my opinion though, $300 seems a little much

My alterations came to $385. They took in the seams by my chest, hem, and a bustle. Not Major work but came to that much $$.

I just had mine done there at the Macy's in Lake Grove. All they had to do was take in the chest area a little bit and do the bustle. It cost about $300. I don't know if it's worth it to take it somewhere else though.

I took my dress to a tailor for alterations. I needed the bodice taken in (6 inches) cups sewn in and a bustle. All in all it is costing $215 including pressing.

i was looking at the macys in manhasset (didnt end up getting a dress with them though) and was told they did have a cap (around $300). you could always see what other stores (non-macys) carry demetrios (i am assuming that is the designer) and order from a store.

Lillettes carrys them and even if they dont have the sample they can order the dress for you (and the dress i was interested in was $500 cheaper at lilettes)...they cap alterations at $275 i believe.

I paid 325 to let out hip area, take in bodice, hem, and french bustle.
