anybody buy their dresses at macys in manhasset? Any good or bad experiences?
i just went there to pick up a bra and passed the salon. I fell in love with the dress on the manequin. It was empty & the woman there convinced me to try it on. I was a little hesitant at first since i was by myself but i said what the heck.. I really liked it and tried on 2 others. They really had a nice selection and the best part was all the dresses i tried on were under $1,000. she said they take about 10 months to order. She didn't really pressure me & just gave me her card. she was very helpful with trying on the dresses.
However, i did do a search i came up mixed reviews. The bad ones were a bit old from 05/06. Just wondering if anybody went their recently.
I was so excited & nervous when i tried on the dresses

I bought my dress there too! I had a great experience when I went to try on dresses, so I only hope and anticipate the same for when the dress comes in. They have a trunk show once a month and everything is 15% off. Check out their website. The only thing that I am nervous about is the alterations b/c there is no cap...

My dress is there now. I love it. You can push for the 15% off even if it's NOT a trunk show day.
I heard some mixed things about alterations...but I had a great experience....my dress came out FINE.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did your alterations run?

Re: Macys Bridal Salon in Manhasset
Hi,
I usually don't post here, but I had to share my experience. I ordered my dress from them in April. I have had nothing but headaches from them since. First they said they would order me the dress I wanted in white (they only had it in yellow and I wanted to see it in white before I ordered) they said it would take 3 days it ended up being 3 weeks. Nobody ever returned my phone calls. Then when the dress finally came in they wouldn't give me the 15% off, even though the girl had written it down in my contract. She said she'd give me 7.5% on the veil and 7.5% on the gown, which equals 15%. Now math isn't really my thing, but I know that 15% off $1,000 is $150 off and 7.5% is only $75. I know that when you're spending that much money it's not that big a deal, but I was upset that they promised me one thing and then changed it to another.
In the interim of waiting three weeks, I brought my BMs to pick out their dresses. One of the girls made a really snide comment about the weight of one of my bridesmaids. She looked her up and down and said, 'Well, you know there's an oversize fee, don't you?' It doesn't look so bad when I write it here, but when she said it loudly, in a snotty tone, in a crowded store, it was really a terrible sight. My friend's face kind of dropped. I was really upset, but did not want to make a big deal about it because that would upset her further. It wasn't the fee that put me off, it was the salesgirl's manner.
I am having a truly bad experience with Macy's Manhasset and if I could do any one thing of my wedding planning differently, I would not have ordered my dress from them.--- i love my dress though!

Re: Macys Bridal Salon in Manhasset
Alterations really depend on the type of gown, bustle and amount of alterations needed. My gown is very plain. No beading. Nothing special on the bottom...all I needed was the hem and bustle & it cost me $250. I was VERY happy especially b/c if there had been a cap I prob would have ended up paying more. HOWEVER, I'll never forget the same night there was another bride there and her alterations were like $700!!!!! Theres pics of my dress in my albums if you want to see. Some of the help there comes off as a little....I dont know...unfriendly at times but they have been wonderful so far with both myself and my BM's. GL!!!!

I went with my best friend and she bought her dress there- they were wonderful and they were able to get her a 'sample' and the dress was 1/4 of the price.
