Macy's Manhasset How Rude! Long

Macy's Manhasset How Rude! Long

I cannot believe how rude the salespeople were in that place!

I had an 8pm appointment. I assume most appoinments are about an hour long, correct?

I got there at 7:45 and went to the desk. There are about 5 salesladies chatting away and not one asked 'May I help you'. I finally said out loud, 'I have a 8pm appointment'. Finally a girl hands me a binder and tells me to mark pages of dresses I like (this binder had all Demitrios gowns). I marked a couple and then my mom and I went around the store and picked out a couple of more.

There was no one else in the salon at the time. A saleslady was helping me and 5 other salespeople were just standing around talking.

At 8:30, one of the salesladies comes over and whispers to the lady that is helping me and tells her, 'We want to get out of here on time tonight, make sure she's out of here soon'. It was loud enough that I heard it and my mom heard it.

At this time, I was looking at gowns over $1K and as high as $2K. Macys closes at 9:30 and here it is at 8:30 and I'm trying on some of the more expensive dresses in the store and they have the nerve to say something like this????

I had a couple of more dresses to try on and instead of trying them on, I started getting dressed. The saleslady who was helping me says, 'You're done? Would you like to leave a deposit tonight?' And I responded, 'No, I rather spend my money down the road at Manhasset Bridal Couture'. And we walked out.

They had some nice dresses and headpieces, but now way would I buy something there after the way we were treated. Just my 2 cents.

That is VERY rude...that would drive me nuts. I'm so glad you said what you said and walked right out of there. Good luck with your dress hunt!!

wow - I've been there just to look, and I guess I'm not surprised of their attitude.

Oh, and not sure if you were being sarcastic in your response to go down the road to Bridal Couture, but I've heard a few really bad stories about that place too.....you can search on this board - there have been recent comments.

Yes--some of the comments were mine. Stay far away from Bridal Couture-they were the RUDEST people I've ever met in my entire life.
Sorry you had such a bad experience!

you should write a letter to the store manager!
and good for saying what you said, even if you didn't mean too at least you had a name to throw in their faces!

I HATE people like that --> they act like they're doing you a favor when all you're asking is for them to do their jobs!!

I'm surprised - only because you'd think they'd make commission on wedding gown! Hopefully they do -- maybe that'll show them the importance of customer service!

I had the same experience with them and felt like I was a burden on the sales lady. That was proably one of my worst situations since Ive been planning my wedding.

Unbelievable! That is so rude!

I had a couple of good experiences at Macys-tried on dresses there twice, had BM look around one afternoon. I can't remember the name of the girl who helped us, though. She was very helpful and had a lot of good suggestions for me (Macys was the first place I tried dresses on, and I was clueless as to what I wanted).

Good for you for standing up to them-great comeback. I'm the kind of person who thinks of the witty comeback ten minutes too late...

Hey Karen -
I had the exact same experience there! I had a saleslady who didn't know what she was doing - actually my friend who was with me wound up putting the dresses on me and pinning them. She was useless. The women in the store kept pulling her over and they would all look at me saying, 'well tell her you have someone else coming in, she has to get out of here, her time is almost up' I was so furious with this place. I actually found the dress I wanted at that store but went to the Macy's Bridal in Menlo Park to buy it because I wouldn't want to give a sale to those crackpots at Manhasset!!!

Thanks ladies. I'm usually not one to complain about such things, but this just really irked me. I mean, I could see if it was later or if they were really busy or if I was being a pain (which I don't think I was).

And I won't be going to Manhasset Bridal Couture. It was just a name I threw at them to show them that I won't be coming back there. Kind of like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when the saleslady at that high-end boutique wouldn't help her and she goes back there a few days later all dressed up and says, 'You work on commission, right?...Big mistake..huge!' and walks out with her arms filled with bags from other stores. I just love that part!

Karen -
LOL!! I was thinking the EXACT same thing...and I've used that example before too! I used to go into this store in Oceanside all the time, and noticed that although there were 3 girls working there, fixing clothes and what not, they NEVER asked me if I needed any help - but they would ask other people all the time. Whenever I told the story about that store I said it reminded me of that scene from Pretty Woman!!

i think you should complain the the manager or something. who knows if it will do anything though.

I agree...you should definitely complain to a manager. There is no excuse for such behavior!!
Sorry that you had to have that kind of experience looking for a dress, because it is usually so much fun!!

I had a bad experience there too....so did 2 other brides I know of. It's not you...but you don't get the service at a dept. store taht you would get a boutique.

I agree. I had such great experiences at other salons that I don't even know why I tried Macys. Oh well, you live and learn, right?

I am sorry for your experience there at Macys in Manhasset but I must say, I had a wonderful experience there. I bought my gown from them and got along with everyone in the store. I agree that they treated you a little unproffessionally but with me and others that I know, we have received awesome service! All of the salesladies were wonderful when i went.

And not for nothing...just imo, calling people 'crackpots' is a little harsh is it not? Not too sure I would agree with that comment at all.

Good luck with everything Karen! I am sure you will find a wonderful place!

I too order my dress from Flowerama in Macy's Manhasset store and had nothing but great service. My dress should be in soon and I cannot wait.
