Made Dj appointment... some questions. Also, poll: lighting or no lighting package?
I'm meeting with a dj company on Thursday. I am wondering if there are any important questions I should be asking.
Also, I'm not sure what to do about a lighting package. Do I skip the lighting completely? Do I go for a light lighting package? What's everyone's opinions? What is everyone doing about this? thanks

We are having lights, but we chose to have an all white light package.

Depends, are you having a day wedding? If you are, then I wouldnt even bother. We didnt have any light show, it was lighted enough inside.

If it is a day.wedding .... it depends on the time of year. I'm having a day wedding but in January. It will start getting dark around 4:30 or so. I am getting a basic light package since part of my reception will be when it is dark.

We had a night wedding, and went for the low key white lights. At night, in the rain, we really needed something to brighten it up. Im glad we had it, and had it low key. As usual, a personal choice :)

We are having lights, but not too crazy. I want to have alot of lights when everyone walks in, and then nice, low key ones when we dance. I don't want to make it look like a club! Most dj companies will work with you on it. I would also suggest having dry ice, or smoke. We are having it only when we do our first dance and it looks awesome! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it! Good Luck! What dj company are you going to see?

I'm having a night wedding but didn't opt for the lighting. I just felt that by the looks of the pictures it seemed so big and not like a 'wedding'. - just my personal opinion. It does look nice when you see videos, but I still am going for the simple look. It depends on what kind of look you're going for. I always asked what they're plan b was if they got a flat tire on the road. Most of the dj's will tell you that as long as they've been in business, that's never happened- I didn't want my day to be the first, and they didn't have a back up. Who are you looking into?

I have an appointment with Invitation to Dance... I've heard some good reviews and we had also seen them at a showcase and thought they were great.
I guess in regards to the lighting package, I will have to see what their packages are like and take it from there.

We are going with a small light package. I wanted something classy and I will continue to specify this everytime I meet with my dj.
I think when done right, lights can add a nice feel to your reception.

I too went with white lights in my package going along with simple, elegant yet fun theme. The day of the affair I remember my DH saying to me are those colored lights? And we looked at each other and said who cares! About three weeks later we reminded outselves of it. I have to check the video to find out! Tell you the truth whatever we had was fine because the dance floor was packed.
