Are Maggie's good quality dresses? I don't want something that is too expensive, but I also do not want something that is going to fall apart on me very easily. Has anyone had bad experiences with Maggie Sottero dresses?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Maggie Sottero dresses
I completely agree that expensive doesn't necessarily mean something is better. But often (not always) the difference in price means the difference of silk satin vs. full polyester satin. That's not to say I haven't seen some high price tags on full polyester satin, and in those cases you are absolutely paying for the name or just plain out getting robbed. I've also seen less expensive dresses that I thought were were quite impressive for the price. But as a general rule, as you go up in price levels, the quality improves, and that's just life. I made my observations based on what I thought of the material when I tried it on and moved around in it and touched it, not by what the price tag said. A bride asked about the quality of a Maggie and I gave her my opinion based on my experience. I certainly never said they were bad. And certainly didn't mean to rain on everyone's Maggie parade. Sadly, if I say anything other than 'Maggies are awesome' every Maggie bride is going to get defensive. I don't think it does any bride any good if she only hears opinions from one side. And that's all I'm going to say on this subject.

Re: Maggie Sottero dresses
this might seem a little 'out there', but why would any dress 'fall apart'.
IMO, if that happens, blame the seamstress, not the MFG. you're wearing the dress for a few hours during fittings and then for 1 day. if a garment cannot last that long, sad, very sad.
I never once gave this any thought while buying a dress or wedding planning. my dress must have been excellent quality! it lasted for the 1 day I needed to wear it

I agree 1000 percent that a price tag does not make a dress. My dress is the same as lip gloss junky's and I LOVE IT! It just came in the other day and is absolutely gorgeous. I know that I will look beautiful in it! I tried on dresses that ranged in price from 500 - 4000 dollars and this was the most beautiful by far!

and by the way... in all actuality ...you are wearing the thing for what, 8 hours? To me, who cares what the material is if the price is right and you love it?

Re: Maggie Sottero dresses
I'm not worried about the material. I just heard of someone's dress falling apart before their ONE day ended- maybe it was the seamstress, maybe it was the manufacturer - who knows exactly. I just wanted to see how the Maggie's held up, and then I will worry about where to purchase it and getting a good semstress. That's all.
Thank you all for your help!
BTW - beautiful dresses girls!! I was looking at the Mallorie!
I have a 'Karen' and I got it at Lillettes in Baldwin.

no rain - no parade!
i wasn't expecting a big Maggies are awesome party here! It's just that no one wants to hear that they are sacrificing something because they can't afford a higher price tag, and then be told that some people are just pickier than others. Look - if we all had a billion dollars to spend, we would all be DAMN picky!!! I just don't like to tell people that I have something 'better' because I spent more money on it, which would make me 'pickier' - even if maybe I feel I do have something better than someone else... that's all...
Trust me - it's a 5 hr party - I am not basing my worth on anything thats going to be there. All i care about is that I am spending my life with my FH. If I happen to look beautiful in my dress (which, I will say - IS awesome!!!) then thats a bonus...
Maggies are awesome, Wangs are awesome, and Acras are awesome - its ALL good...

Did you get yours in ivory or white? Mine is ivory! I believe they call it diamond white?

No dress should fall apart on you no matter how inexpensive.
I have a Maggie and have not had any problems. My grandma, a seamstress for over 40 years with hundreds of wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses under her belt, was surprised at the price I paid Then again, I did get it super discounted from the retail price

Re: Maggie Sottero dresses
I LOVE my maggie too and I think it is made very well. Like someone else said, your dress should NOT fall apart-you are only wearing it for a few hours!! If you have a budget, only try on dresses in that price range then you won't fall in love with something you can't afford. I really don't think you could go wrong with a Maggie, but make sure it is the one you love!! Too many people on this site doubt their choice after the fact so don't rush into getting a Maggie just because all of us love ours.

Maggie dresses are beautiful!! They have so many beautiful ones to choose from too. I tried over fifty gowns on, just to make sure I saw a variety. The prices of the gowns from various designers ranged anywhere from $700.00- $3800.00. This maggie was by far my favorite, and also very affordable. I know Rocky Point Bridal has so many Maggie dresses to choose from, and they are WONDERFUL there!! Good luck--I hope this helps!!
