I tried on the Maggie Sottero SaBelle this morning and fell in love with it! I have also tried on a dress from the Kenneth Pool Platinum edition which i love as well. I do believe i love the Maggie Sottero more, but am a bit concerned (though i should be happy) as the price difference between the 2 dresses is exhorbitant!!! The Maggie Sottero dress is around $2,000 and the Kenneth Pool around $10,000. Am i crazy to be a little concerned about how the quality must be of the Maggie one if its that much less? Can someone who has worn or bought a Maggie Sottero dress please give me some advice so i feel more comfortable that the dress i fell in love with really is or isnt a dream come true?

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
The Maggie Sottero surprisingly i found at Bridal Reflections and the Platinum i found at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset. I dont know the number for the platinum collection just exactly what it looks like. The maggie Sottero is the SaBelle design. Does that make a difference with the quality?!

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
Well, let me ask you this...do you reeeeally want to spend THAT much on a dress...a dress that you will only wear once? Sottero's quality may not be comparable to Kenneth Pool, but it's not ratty. I think all of her dresses are very well made. I have never heard a bride complain about her dresses. I have a Sottero and Midgley and when all is said and done, i'll probably be spending about 2k with alterations, headpiece, etc. I saw a dress I loved for 3k and I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money. I knew I would be able to find a dress similar to it, and I did! :)

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
I wore Maggie Sottero's Jean. I LOVED it and got sooo many compliments. I was also in love with an Amalia Carrarra (sp) that I never even tried on because I knew it was close to 10K. I still love my dress, and have no regrets. My dress was only $900. I also tried on a stunning Kenneth Pool at the Saks Sample sale. I almost bought it JUST because it was Kenneth Pool and only 1800 at the sample sale -- but then realized that was stupid -- I really loved my dress better. So, I think if you love your Maggie you should buy it! They are good quality. Good luck!

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
Personally, I wouldnt spend 10,000 on a dress I'd wear once. I'd also think of putting the $8,000 towards something extra for the wedding. Cigar bar, photobooth, upgrade at the RH, etc.
I have a Maggie and I thought the quality of the dress was exquisite. I'm very pleased.

i had a maggie dress and it was perfect, just took a while to come in that was my only complaint and it was in a month and 1/2 before my wedding which i thought was kinda cutting it close but everything worked out just fine, and like i said the dress was amazing.....i love her dresses!!!!!

I wore a maggie dress and loved it. I honestly don't know how it compares to kenneth pool, I'm too poor to even try on a kenneth pool dress.

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
my dress is a Maggie and I tried it on twice, both times I felt it is very good material and looks good ( =
Does your Maggie price for $2000 include alterations & stuff? If not, then maybe if you buy from RKbridal you can get it for $1520...negotiate...negotiate...

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
maggie's are very good quality...ESPECIALLY a 2k maggie...Kenneth Pool is a very $$$$$ line..which is why there's such a huge price difference. Maggies can run anywhere from 900.00-about 2500.00. so ur at the top of the line anywhere from 1k-2k is about average at regular bridal boutiques.....like i said, K.P. is just a pricey higher scale line that they only carry at exclusive boutiques..
perfect way to look at it: Think Coach vs. Louis Vitton. Coach is still an expensive high end line...Louis is just a higher scale. hth
all that to say: No..u dont need to be concerned because ur maggie.

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
I love my Maggie dress and can't wait to wear it! I think you have to ask yourself is the $8,000 difference worth it for a dress you're going to wear for 10-12 hours.
I wouldn't spend that much, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Maggie Sottero Dresses
Rather than spending the 10 grand on a dress I would use the money towards the wedding expenses. I'd go with the cheaper priced dress IMO!

I love this analogy!
I adore Badgley Mischka, Reem Acra, and Kenneth Pool -- but I (personally) couldn't validate spending (or rather, asking my mom to spend!) thousands upon thousands of dollars on a gown I'll be wearing for all in all - 8 hours, maybe? There are SO many bridal companies that are high end, both also significantly more affordable. Maggie Sottero dresses are beautiful! Also, unless your guests are fellow brides to be, it'll be highly unlikely anyone will care about the label of your gown. They're going to remember that way YOU looked in it!
