Maggie Sottero Question for Past & Future Brides

I need some help, I found the Maggie Sottero Grace Kelly dress in a size 12 and absolutely loved it. My problem is that I am certainly not a size 12. Somehow that woman got it on me (the right bra can do wonders I guess!), but I really need a larger size to try on before I would ever decide to order it. My sister tried it on for me, but we are shaped differently and I really need to see how the armholes would fit on me (they were boned and very stiff) and the bust area.

Has anyone looked for this particular dress and found it in a larger size anywhere? I was told at a different place that they usually send out the samples in the same size everywhere, so most places would probably have a 12. Does anyone have a photo of them or someone they know in the dress? I looked at the 'Maggie Brides' on their website and the only one there was definitely not a plus size. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thank you, it really is so pretty in person, too. I do have a couple of backup options I am looking at, but I would really love to be able to try this on in a bigger size if I could. It was actually flattering even though it wasn't my size, but I need to know that it will be comfortable...it's going to be a long day. I was hoping that maybe someone has worn it and could tell me how the arms felt over time.

i love this dress myself too.... unfortunately i dont know where you could try it on.... can you call around some different places..... im sure if the armholes were bigger it would be comfortable to wear

I called one place and they had the same size. I called a second place and they carried Maggie dresses, but didn't have that one. I have to call the other stores on the list when they are open, but I'm not too optomistic. You never know, though.

worse comes to worse, if you decide you want to order that dress and are unsure the sleeve fitting, i'm sure the person who does your alterations can make it feel more comfortable once it's in. maybe expand the hole for the sleeves and such. just a thought.

I think I saw that dress (or one VERY similar to it) at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa .... try giving them a call!

Thank you, I will (similar is good too!). I tried calling them Friday, but they were already closed. I'll try them 1st tomorrow.

When I first started looking, I was set on a Maggie, but I couldn't find the one I wanted in any store. I called Bridal Suite of Bay Shore and they told me there they could order it for me. Maybe, you could call them and ask if they can get a sample in a bigger size.

Helen's in Commack carries a lot of Maggies...they had my dress sample in a size 14

Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point has (or at least, had) the Grace Marie in a 20. However, I'm not sure if they still have it, since I think the Grace Marie was discontinued. It would at least give you an idea about the line of the dress and how the corset looks.

Actually Bridal Suite in Bay Shore is where I tried on the size 12. I'm not sure how long it takes to get samples in and my wedding is in 9 months. Maybe they have the Grace Ann in a slightly larger size. That style is very similar without the cap sleeves, so that would work. I'm going to try it on this weekend for my sisters as well as a couple of other dresses I liked and see what they think. I'll just go with my instincts. Thanks girls!

Bridal Reflections said they had a Grace Marie also (I don't know what size, though). I found a picture of it online...that's pretty similar. I think that will definitely help, thanks!

Bridal Reflections in Massapequa carries a lot of Maggie dresses in larger sample sizes ( I tried a 20). That's where I got my dress.
Lilette's in Baldwin also has a lot in larger sizes.
Struck out at Lestan - they didn't have any of the Maggie's wanted to try on.

Try to call diff stores to get it in a large size...i got mine at lestans also. You can call and see if they have it.

To be honest, you're likely not going to find a larger sample. It's worth calling around, but don't count on us.

99% of us order our dresses having only tried on a sample that is either too big or too small. Did they pin you into it so you could get an idea?

They actually got the dress on and did the corset ties, so now I feel like I do have an idea how it would look on me. I love it even more every time I try it on and I'm pretty sure that's the one I'm going to buy. I'm just calling around to try and get the best price. Thanks everyone so much for your help!
