Maid of Honor

Maid of Honor

I just wanted to propose an idea and see if anyone can provide some feedback:

I would love my sister to be the Maid of Honor in my wedding. We lost our mother a few years back and this would be very special to her. However, she currently lives in Los Angeles and will not be here for most of the planning. My fiance's sister is also very close to both of us and is already involved in helping with the wedding plans. She lives in Long Island.

I think you should do what's best for you. This is your day.

I have been considering having a maid of honor and a matron of honor at my wedding. In my opinion, there is no need to feel bound by tradition if it's something that you feel is deserving and appropriate.

Another concern we have is having different companies for the video and photos. I have heard more than one nightmare story about the two different 'teams' causing more stress in an already stressful day. Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry but she sounds overly touchy and more than a bit selfish. especially considering you did the most unbiased thing and left it to the roll of the dice. Logically, I don't see how could she be insulted...I think fate did you a favor. Hope your not offended but that's how it sounds.

I'm not mad at all because I know I have plenty of time for these types of things to happen and to correct them. It was more of an FYI to everyone. The bridal shop was trying to dissuade me from trying on my dress until 6 weeks before the wedding at my first fitting. Just think of what a disaster that would have been!

I think I am considering the Matron of Honor option. Two of my bridesmaids will be married by my wedding date and I am the Maid of Honor in one of their weddings. She will probably be the Matron of Honor. I am lucky because 4 out of my 5 bridesmaids get along great!. My 5th bridesmaid is my best friend from college and she also gets along with the other girls, when she is in the area to go out with everyone!

Thanks for all of your feedback!

My friend just got married and had a 'Diva' of Honor. Funny!

Thanks for all of your input...It is really making me feel better. It seems like everyone is so set on Tradition and there are so many things I want to do differently.

Tina, that is GREAT!!! My matron of honor (the sister who gave the 'Best Chick' title) is definitely a diva...and now she'll have a new title!!! Thanks for the idea! ;-)

You're welcome! Thank my friend Jenn. I thought it was so cute when the DJ announced her sister as the 'Diva' He He

Mike is right on the money. However, I'm finding that it is the married guys that want the party as much as the single guys. It is a good excuse for them to 'remember' what life was like in the 'old days'. If you trust your FI and believe in him, then you know that he will not dissapoint you. If you don't trust him, then there may be deeper issues. Like Mike has said, it is all show. My friends and even my FI want me to have a bachelor party. I don't feel any particular need for it, mostly because 1) I've reached the age where I don't feel a need for that 'last night of freedom', and 2) I have my FI's blessing to do as I please. That means that she trusts me enough to know that I won't dishonor her - and I won't.
