Maid of Honor - Dama de Amor

Hi Ladies, FH and I finally decided on 10/20/07 so now the planning can begin!

First of many questions!! - My FSIL will be my maid of honor, or Dama de Amor as it's called in Spanish. It's customary for the Dama de Amor to wear a red dress, symbolizing love. Damas de Amor are the only ones that are supposed to wear red.

Problem is - I really really like the white and red color theme and I want all my bridesmaids to wear red (I'm only having three bridesmaids, my FSIL and two cousins). FSIL/MOH wants to stand out by being the only one in red, but I don't want one girl to wear red and the other girls to wear another color. I know it's my wedding day and whatever I say goes (ha! how often does one get away with saying that!), but I don't want to hurt her feelings.

The simple fact that she will be the maid of honor and the others aren't should be enough, right? What extra special thing can I do for her that will make her feel like she's standing out among the other bridesmaids?

like the bill levkoff dress....put your moh in solid red and the girls in either red w/white sash or white w/red sash.

I think the other girls are right...doing the reverse...this is my bridesmaids dresses (brown with pink) but ithought so you could just get an idea...maybe do the reverse for your BM? or a color that compliments the red? black with a red sash as someone had mentioned?

Hi 08er crashing. I think that the white or beige dress with red sash will look beautiful. Def. do what you want, it's your day.

Oh yea, I see you are Latina, my culture does the same. Are you sure it's not Dama de Honor? That's what we call them.
