I have 3 sisters ages 9,15,18 (10,16,20 by the wedding). Last time I was getting married (this is the second time we are engaged) I picked my 2 sisters (the other as flower girl) and 3 of my really good friends to be the bridesmaid. One of those girls was my friend since I was 6 so i picked her as the MOH. second time around I want to do it differently. I want my sisters and instead of my friends I want my cousins (who I left out last time but did not want to leave out).
Can I have 2 MOH? I cant choose between my sisters. I feel like 2 MOHs defeats the purpose of a MOH I have also heard of people not having a MOH at all...
Sorry it is so long but I am starting to feel the stress!

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
What if your friend did a reading at your wedding or had a role equally as special as being in the bridal party? You can have 2 MOH's, I've heard of some people having 3.
Edit for spelling

i think its fine to have 2 MOH -- we are having 2 best men because FH didnt want to choose between his 2 brothers.

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
I was under the assumption that the MOH had to be 18 to be a witness. I would check into that, otherwise I see no reason not to have 2 MOH, but the other sister may feel left out. Choosing the oldest as MOH should be a good enough excuse to not offend the other 2 or the age. You should have the people you know you can count on in the party and really want. Don't worry about doing it to be even.

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
I'm learning that you can do anything you want for your own wedding. I'm breaking some etiquette rules along the way, but who cares!
I have 2 younger sisters too, and can't even think of choosing between the 2 of them. We agreed years ago as teenagers that whenever one of us gets married, the 2 others would be co-maids of honor. My youngest sis had both of us for her MOH back in 2004. Now that she's married, I'll have her as my Matron of Honor and our middle sis as my Maid of Honor.
For your friends, I'd have to say that you can either do an all-or-nothing type of thing. Either have all of them in the wedding party as BMs or have all of them do some type of readings and such, or have none of them in it and just say that this time around you're going to keep it small and just make your sisters your MOH as a very small BP. I don't know if this would work in your situation, but it may be a way of getting around hurt feelings from friends who aren't chosen to be in the BP.

I have 3 sisters and 3 MOH's. It doesn't defeat any purpose. They are all special to me and I am not going to choose which one is more special to me... that I think it ridiculous. So they all have their own ways to help me out. I love it. When one is busy I always have one of the other 2 to come with me to help me and help me with stuff. Do what you want its your day!!!

I am having 2 maid of honors... my sister who is so much more then just a sister, and my best freind. I couldn't just choose one b/c they BOTH mean sooo much to me in sooo many different ways. There is no 'set rule' for weddings anymore... you do what YOU want and feel would suite you. I have heard of this girl only having 4 girls in her party, and they ALL where MOHs... since she couldn't decide only one. It'sok to have 2. Go for it :)

I'm not having a MOH.....& I don't see anything wrong with having 2 MOH either. BUT, I have a funny feeling that it is still possible that your friend (the original MOH) may be 'insulted' (for lack of a better word) of adding on your sister as a MOH too. Only you know her personality....either she'll be open-armed....or be defensive ...I'm sure you know where I'm going. Go with your heart..

I think 2 MOH's is fine...my fh is having 2 best men b/c he couldnt choose. They could walk down together as well. Maybe the other friend could do a reading at the ceremony. Does she sing? She could do a song.

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
that's exactly how I feel -- I hate the idea of designating one person as more 'special' than the others. It's crazy. I keep saying I don't have a MOH -- maybe I'll make them all my MOH's

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
I am having 2 MOH's - 1 Matron and 1 Maid. My MtOH did the same thing - her older sister was MtOH and I was the MdOH.
However, I would have your 20 yo sister and your best friend as MOH's and have your 16 yo a 'Jr' MB or MOH.

We got engaged (the 1st time) in June 2006.
My original MOH is getting married in Oct 09 and she isnt even having me in the wedding party- so I am not worried about asking her. It is everyone else I am worried about.

Re: Maid of Honor-LONG
If you really want just 1 MOH choose the oldest sister or the one you're OBVIOUSLY closer with (if there is one) otherwise both MOH or no MOH...you can do whatever you want!

Maybe I should have a FRIENDS themed wedding...
