Need some help. I know that in order to change my maiden name to my middle name, I have to go to the court house and to a name change process. However, should I do this after my marriage license? And how do I fill out my marriage license then? Do I say that I want to change it to FH's last name, even though I'll be changing it again to First Maiden FH Last Name?
I would definitely do it after your marriage license. As far as filling out the license, I would probably keep my own name and then later add on his name when you go to court. This is something I plan on doing as well - and personally I think it's ridiculous that we have to go to court for this. Ultimately though, either way you do it the court won't give you a problem.
Thanks. It is such a pain, and so ridiculous that you just can't change it on the marriage license. My actual first name legally is Tinamarie and I want to have it cut down to Tina. So, I'll be doing that as well.
I am pretty sure you can't change the maiden to middle name on the marriage license, so I don't think it would matter later whether you had a marriage license with a name change or not, you can do whatever you want to at the court.
