No, I don't think so. My MOH didn't even make a speech

no.

but, you should proof the best man's speech. They're often terrible.

DH's cousin got married and the groom's brother gave the toast. He said,

'ummmm Hi. I'm Tony. The groom's brother. Ummmmmm. I've known Tom a long time....and.....ummmmmm. Good Luck to Tom and Mary'.

He was not kidding when he said the 'I've known him a long time' part. People started to laugh and he looked like he was going to cry.

When this groom was a best man at someone else's wedding, he was reading straight off notecards. So, we all knew that he didn't write that speech. It was also too 'smart' for him. So, it all seemed totally fake!

Another wedding I went to, the only thing the best man did was TEAR APART his brother. And, by the end, it wasn't funny anymore.

At my wedding, our best man just didn't make sense. Big words, nice word tracks, but we're still not sure what he was talking about.

Proof the best man's speech!

No way! If you are afraid of what she might say, she shouldn't be your MOH!!

That's not always the case. Our best man is a great guy- with an Ivy League education. He didn't do it on purpose, but he choked the toast...

I only made 1 speech (I was a MOH 4 times! )

It was at my sister's wedding and I wasn't even told I had to make one. All of the sudden the MC calls my name, so I did it on the fly. So of course I start crying 1/2 way through it. who am I kidding, I cried through her whole ceremony I'm such a baby! lol

No. I made a MOH speech once & I made it up on the spot.

My MOHh had notes, but I liked being surprised.

I didn't joke with the best man, that I'd write his speech for him, but all that got me was a little mocking in his speech!

It it was someone that I coudln't trust with a speech, I would ask them to do it in the first place.

No way! Honestly, I think it's rude and disrespectful. It says, 'I love you so much that I gave you the honor of being my MOH, but I don't trust you to make a nice speech.' I would be beyond insulted if someone asked to proof my speech.

No, but I would inform her you are expecting her to make a speech so she can be prepared.

no way....I was a MOH twice, and I kept the speech a secret both times...its supposed to be a surprise...so that you make the bride and the groom get all choked up.

No. I was my sister's MOH and I was soooo nervous for the speech, but it was nice to have that emotional moment.

No.. But I know some brides do ask... I'm the MOH in my friend's wedding in 2 weeks and I was told what to say... I think it should be a surprise and come from the heart..

I would totally change it! It's supposed to be a nice heartfelt surprise for the bride and groom.
