I purposely went to the Post Office to hand cancel my calligraphied invites. However, my Mom's arrived with a bar code at the bottom. Does this mean my efforts were in vain? It didn't have a second postmark, but is it a separate machine that gives the bar code? Perhaps the sorter? Anybody else run into this? Oh well, too late now.

It is a separate machine that puts the barcode on. That's how the post office separates the mail, all the way down to the exact route your postal carrier takes.

i told them to hand sort them all... i hope they listen. Did your mom say if the envelope look bad??

No, it didn't look bad. Just had a whole bunch of little black lines along the bottom. If the PO will hand sort them for you, I would definitely ask.

I had all my invites hand cancelled and one guest let us know that it came in a bag and ripped up!
What the heck? I hope this didnt happen to more that I didnt hear about

Don't worry about it. I was all worried about it then I realized I've never gotten a hand canceled invite in my life. I would be upset if it was ripped.

Ha ha, I don't think I ever got a hand canceled one in my life either. Ha ha, but they do look very nice when you get one. I've seen a couple of the envelopes that my guests have gotten. Then again, I'm purposely looking now
