I am probably going to mail my invites Friday or Saturday. I don't want to just drop them off at the post office b/c I don't want them to run it through the machine or whatever they do. Can't I get something to bring home to do it myself -I thought I remembered reading something about that. What do I do?

call your post office and ask them if they hand cancel. Then just drop it off and youll be fine

I brought mine to the post office and just told them I wanted them hand stamped. The worker was pretty busy, so he just gave me the stamp and I did it myself. It took no more than 10 minutes!

What exactly is hand cancelling - you still but the stamp on right?
Plus, I know this sounds stupid but the ink from the calligraphy doesn't add any weight does it?

You put the stamp on then they give you a red ink stamp that you stamp over it.
I don't think the calligraphy will add any significant weight to it. They reweighed one of mine when I brought it to be mailed.
