Maitre 'D Fee?
Ok girls what exactly is the maitre d fee for?? I thinks its rediculous that we have to pay a fee for him and then we have to give him a big tip after the wedding!! If this fee isnt just for him then they shouldnt call it that!!! I cant believe how much this freaking wedding is costing....i really wish i had just eloped!!

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I don't know of any 'fee' in addition to the tip you give him. We are tipping $3 a head, so about $500 total for the MD tip. We have no additional 'fee' that we pay though.

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I'm going to take into consideration everything but at the end of the day a recommended gratuity is just that, service is based on service.

We went back to speak specifically about tips..
We have an Executive Staff gratituty of $800 included (which also gets taxed). But they suggest we give an additional $800 because the first 800 goes into their paychecks (the bathroom attendants, valet parkers, back of house manager, bridal attendant, etc)
Also we have to tip our Banquet Manager since he is basically putting the whole thing together.

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I know gratuity was added onto our bill but not for maitred they suggested 500 for him. but its based on service too. Why do they want you to tip him on top of a fee for him already??

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I didn't think it was 3-5 for the tip. I'm giving like $2 per person. I just can't do $5 a person. That would be over a grand. Just can't

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I think it's BS that some RHs charge a fee, or make you tip upfront. How can you possibly tip for a service not yet rendered? Stupid.

Executive Staff gratuity? That's THE most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. DO they pay their employees at all? Remember it's a suggestion and not your problem what they get and what the other staff gets. WOW!!
All I had to worry about was my MD $3-5/pp & my bridal attendant, whom I gave $150.

We just spoke about tips on Monday when we did our wine tasting/selection lol. I really don't know about this included $800 thing you're talking about honestly, they never mentioned that to me. We're going to end up tipping quite a bit. That's just how Mike's family is. All the bartenders, is key! My bridal attendant, grooms/parents attendants, valets, bathroom attendants.

Re: Maitre 'D Fee?
I still have to ask for a breakdown of the fees we are paying because I know quite a bit about event planning and I want to figure out who to tip and what. Still, at the end of the day I will tip for exceptional service, not out of obligation. The only people who are definitely getting tips from me are my photogs because I want my photo retouching to be fantastic and my priest because he has been amazing and I'd like to make an additional donation.
