20% gratuity is added to my contract...however, do I still have to tip 3-4 dollars p/p extra for an additional tip for the maitre 'd ?? If not, how much is sufficiant for a 230 person wedding?
PS asked BM if the 20% includes everyone and she said yes...

yes, you do need to tip the Maître d' in addition to the 20% service charge (which, from what I understand, is not exactly a 'gratuity' anyway). $3-$10pp is the range I have heard. So for 230 people, $690-$2300 would be a customary tip for the Maître d'.
ETA: if you have bridal attendant(s), then they need to be tipped separately as well.

We tipped 500 for the matre' d...and we had 125 people. And same with us...we had a 20% additional fee added onto our bill.
