Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
I didn't have a DOC and my wedding day was perfect. Our Maitre'd was amazing and there was no need for a DOC.

It depends on what you have going on. There is NO WAY I could have gotten through my day without my DOC.

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
Our Maitre D' was awesome. He and his staff took care of everything. I think it depends on your RH and how much you are departing from a usual wedding program/schedule.

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
The Maitre d is really there to worry about the staff and not about the bride and groom IMO....ours was great but his job was mainly to guide the staff...we had a bridal attendent and a DOC as well....Our DOC Rosalie was amazing and we are so glad that we had her...money well spent!

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
I know what you mean, I was just thinking about the same thing. I was actually thinking of hiring a wedding planner. Thing is that I do love doing all this myself, but I have soooo many ideas of what I want and I think that maybe they would help a little bit with making my vision come true. But sometimes they like to do their own thing, and I wouldn't be able to stand that.

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
hi lisa!you really have no need for a DOC from what i know about your wedding. they're only really necessary if you have a lot of little details. since you're getting married at your hall, you only have one place to deal with, and the maitre d' will do it.
i had a DOC, but didn't need one. if i hadn't won her services, i wouldn't have gotten one.
BTW...michael misses you! come visit next time you're in town!

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
We had a MD and a bridal attendant. Surprisingly, BOTH were by my side ALL day. I would've wasted my $ on a DOC.

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
they have different roles....and a DOC is with you all day...she is making sure EVERYTHING is perfect and should be someone in your corner if something does go wrong!

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
I cant speak too much b/c my wedding is in 6 months, but I have a planner and I know she had been a life saver and will be the day of.She will be keeping my @ss on time, making sure I havent forgotten anything...etc.
I think it depends on if you feel you may need someone on your side which is what they are there for, you and your groom no one else really

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
HI everyone... i am a bridal attendent and i dont feel that you need a DOC. I have ahd my experiences with DOC's and they dont do anythign different from what i do. WHen you enter your reception hall your bridal attendent is there for your every need and is there to make your day stress free. The matire D and the BA work closely together to make sure that everything is perfect for you!My first experience with a DOC was terrible. SHe had me running around doing all of her dirty work ( like running to the suite to get her purse, getting her drinks, her putting stress on the bride, using vulgar language) I am a hard worker and there is nothing i wouldnt do for one of my brides but having the DOC making me do the work that she is there for wasnt right! SHe ended up slacking off and had me doing all the work for her. Just because she had DOC didnt mean that i was going to run out on my duties and leave the bride alone i was there to do my job and i always go above and beyond it!
I personaly feel like you should meet your Matire 'd and bridal attendent before the wedding. Its good when you get to know them but if your hall doesnt have a BA then hire a DOC!!! just make sure you get references!

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
I'm not having oneRH has a BA that will get me what i need, is there for emergencies and does the bustle
I will do everything else myself in terms of making sure all vendors are aware of times
dont know what else i'd use it for

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
With the NIGHTMARE experience I am having with a VERY popular DOC on here-who has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth- I am NOW second guessing having one! After this one I feel they can not be trusted and are a big waste of time and MONEY

Re: Maitre d' vs. Day of Coordinator
Depends on your wedding and the logistics of what you need.We were married at the hall, and only had about 70-75 people and yet we still had a Maitre'D and 2 bridal attendants. They constantly made sure everything was fine by us.
The only thing I could have received help from with the DOC was the drama that surrounded my dress.
