I told one of my bridesmaids to stand down, it was awful but im getting her dress back and im going to ask someone else to be in the wedding. The dress she bought is a size 22! The girl im going to ask if I had to guess is probably a size 12 or 14. Can they alter a dress that much? Im getting nervous now because the dress is discontinued :( Help what would I do??

I'm sure they can do the alterations, BUT it'll cost $$$!! The dress is definitely discontinued? you called the shop to confirm?

I just calle... They said they could take a look at the dress but if they did the alteration it is very possible it could come out funny looking. fml. and the dress is discontinued. I dont know what to do now. I really want this girl in my wedding.

A 22 to a 14 is huge!!! Its like 50 lbs!
I feel bad bc i cant imagine them being able to recreate the same silouettw that much smaller.
Can you have her give you her actual measurements and then call everywhere and see if anyone has her size in house?

im a street size 12/14 and had a bridemaid dress in a 18 you shouldnt have a problem dresses are very different then street clothes go to A good tailor and find out

DB once told me that can only alter a dress down 3 sizes. Not sure if that applies to all dresses or just the one I was asking about. HTH

ehhh it depends on the dress. my sister ordered a size 16 dress, assuming she'd be breastfeeding and would have massively huge boobs. well, no one considered that the baby may not take to b-feeding... so she had to have it majorly taken in. it definitely didn't look right - didn't look like the others. but really- it is a huge function of what the dress looks like.

do you know if your friend is 12 or 14 street or for this dress?
if she is street size at 14 then that size 22 dress may not be so big and they can alter it down for sure

honestly, its totally doable. a street size 12/14 is a BM 18-20. AND if she has a larger chest chances are that she would have had to order up a size to fit her bust.
