This may sound kind of funny but I was wondering if anyone has this problem.. I have this huge phobia of people touching me.. Now for the wedding dress is wasnt that bad because she is my moms friend and Ive known her for years.. BUT, I need a corset Im so so so afraid of going to get fit for a corset... To the point that I can not sleep or eat.. I even got sick last night thinking about it.. The phobia is really really bad..
The lady doing my dress knows I have this phobia and doesnt crowd me but she doesnt deal in corsets so I wouldnt be able to go through her..
Anyone with any suggestions?

Re: Major issue here...
maybe try some hypno-therapy...... that's an issue that is probably related to something in your past and if you want to get past it you should talk to someone. As for corset fitting...let them know in advance that you have this problem and maybe if you talk to them for a while and get to know them better it won't be as bad ?

Go to a store where you can pick it out yourself then ask someone who knows about your phobia to help you in the store. I have a thing where I hate people touching my neck so I understand what it's like. Last night at my dress fitting they were fixing the shoulder straps on my dress and she kept coming near my neck. I kept pulling away the seamstress was so confused.

Phobias.....true phobias.....which it souds like you have are not an easy thing to get passed. Depending on what your school of thought is, there are various approches to treating it. Being that there is an immediacy to this problem and you need to 'get over' it quick, I would seek out a hypnotherapist.
I don't want to panic you but have you thought about the wedding? Everyone wants to hug and kiss the bride. Hopefully, if you try hypnosis, it will help.

Perhaps the woman who is fitting your dress can suggest someone who she knows is not really overbearing to fit your corset. Or you could explain to that person beforehand what your needs are. Speaking up always helps bc the anxiety can come from the unknown, so plan ahead.
Unfort, having someone touch you will be inevitable for the corset fitting...
you could always just order one online, i love my seamless bustier from VS..but that may be just avoiding the problem.
Im fearful sometimes of other ppl touching me but its for a much different reason so I wont claim I can fully understand. I have some mobility issues so I have a fragile line of balance and if someone bumps into me or hugs me too tightly or any other variety of things, they can push me over without meaning too. So anyways, being that Im an anxious person Im kinda freaking out about that part of my wedding day..knowing not all of my FH's family and friends are aware of my disability and will probably be all trying to come give me a hug. The LAST thing I need it to have a fall on my wedding day!!
Try to do things that really relax you prior to your corset fitting- meditation, relaxation exercises, deep breathing, etc. If you need recommendations for these types of things, feel free to ask. I am big into these types of exercises. They can help you let go of some of the worries so that you can sleep if you practice consistently.
best wishes!! you deserve to have the day you want, down to the little details like getting this corset, try not to let this stop you

Could you have the lady who's doing you alterations go with you? She'll know what you need and she can help you get in it (if needed) You're comfortable with her.

I would go to a dept store & try them on alone. This way no one is in your way.

O girl I know what you are feeling! I have a personal space issue that tends to haunt me to no end. I get erked and freaked when people are to close, or touch me. Not so much that I have nightmares but enough that people seem to get offended by it. I would just tell whoever you deal with of this before hand this way they can make adjustments to the way they deal with it. Good Luck
